Vivofit 4 stuck in a screen loop after swapping batteries. Phantom button touches.

My Vivofit 4 got stuck appears to have a button issue I cannot trace.

Batteries died last week (didn't last a year as expected as long as expected and appear to be unevenly depleted).

Swapped in new ones on Saturday but realized I couldn't successfully track my activities today.

It loops like there is some kind of phantom button press happening, cycling through the watch faces and stopping activities after they are started.

Even without any activity started, the screen cycles through the watchfaces without a button press and starts random activities, then stops them (had to delete a number of walks)

I did check the rubber seal and it was slightly out of place in one spot.

Is this just a moisture issue or a physical failure?
