Can I still use the GPS while charging?

I have a long ride coming up, longer than the battery will last while using GPS. If I charge the watch using a portable charger during the ride, will the GPS continue to work and track while it's connected to the charger?

I charged on 2 longer bike rides a few months ago, though I charged on stops, so the GPS was still working with the watch off and the charger connected,

Why not make a test run, using a power bank and a trip up and down the street?

That said, I have always wondered why the connector is on the back and not side; it would make it possible to use while charging.

Do you have results? Does it still track your position while charging? I plan to go on a long hike and would like to charge during activity tracking.

You can...

Heart rate will not be recorded, of course, but steps are still fairly accurate and GPS seems spot on.
