Activity corrupted

Hello,

Yesterday i've been tracking a 10 km run while listening to music from the watch.
Around km 7, the music stopped. I tried to restart the headphones, no luck.
So i just continued running.
When i hit the 10 km mark, i stopped.
After stopping the activity, i noticed there is no summary for it.
And the date was wrong, 31 dec.
I also noticed all the connect IQ related things were not available anymore, like watchfaces and widgets.
I decided to restart the watch, which solved the issue of the connect IQ, but the activity still had an empty summary.

After reaching home and trying to sync, the message displayed was that the file is corrupted.
I'm not sure why this happened or if it will happen again.

Any ideas?
And can anyone help me recover the activity ?
I'll attach the corrupted file.

Thanks,
Rosi
  • Exactly this happened to me yesterday at my first 10 km run. Is there no way to get the data back? And why does it happen? Is it the new update?

  • This continues to be an issue for me too. Typically on long runs. Music switches off, message 'media error occurred' displays and my activity not recorded. Happened during a HM and yesterday 6 miles into a 16 miler. The disruption to the run is infuriating.

  • This happened to me yesterday. Long run with the coach so, I completed 10km, as I passed the 10km mark the Spotify said media error and the watch seemed to freeze. The activity shows up on my watch but says 31 Dec and doesn’t have the breakdown. Won’t register the activity to my account.

  • This has happened to me about 5 times. Really frustrating. Initially I thought it may have been a particular Soptify playlist which may have been causing it but that's not the case as it's now happened while listening to other albums downloaded from Spotify. I eventually opened a case with Garmin support who are investigating. Let's see what they come back with.

  • This happened twice for me... both time's I runned out of battery. And even I saw my activity on Forerunner 45 I couldn't sync it to garmin connect on phone. So connecting my watch via USB charger to my computer. Then open in explorer E:/Garmin/Activity/ folder and manually upload "corrupted" .fit file in Garmin connect webpage (upload and import activity). This is way it started to work.

And seems that .fit file itself isn't corrupted even you're activity stop recording (battery issue or else) it just not auto syncing correctly "old files"  after restarting you're device.
