Index Inaccurate after battery change

After changing the batteries on my Gen 1 Index, I appear to have lost nearly 10Kg! Checking with another set of scales shows that, sadly, I have not had a miraculous weightloss. The Index zeroes correctly, and appears to be consistently wrong, giving a weight of around 86Kg when I am in fact about 96Kg - as it correctly showed until I changed the batteries.

Is there any way of re-calibrating the scales? I have gone through the full factory reset twice, and the scales repeatedly give the same erroneous reading. It would be a shame to throw them away, especially as I had to throw the last set away when they failed to zero. On that occasion, and this, the scales were and are out of warranty. Is it likely to be one of the transducers in the feet? Can these be changed?
