Disappointed that the settings.fit file glitch still isn't fixed in 3.93. RHR still hard coded to 50bpm

The ISM reports fundamentally different heart rate data than other Elevate v5 sensors. All evidence points to the fact that the resting heart rate setting likely interferes with the heart rate algorithm. Users wearing the ISM versus other Elevate v5 devices experience a higher detected heart rate and lower HRV. This artifact has been extensively tested and confirmed. The whole point and promise of the ISM is that it allows a user to remove the watch at night in favor of a more comfortable experience. However, if the data is completely different than what the watch detects, many other data streams the watch depends on are compromised. GIGO presides.

  • This is a really important concern. If the ISM is consistently producing different heart-rate and HRV readings compared with other Elevate v5 sensors, it could affect the accuracy of several downstream metrics. The whole benefit of wearing the ISM overnight is convenience, so the data should ideally remain consistent and reliable. Hopefully Garmin can investigate the algorithm and resting-HR interaction more closely.
