Keep loosing sync / pairing and having to re-pair

twice now in the last week or so the ISM has failed to connect / sync to Connect (on iOS). It seems like the ISM has completely reset itself or something.

I end up having to remove it from Connect and re-add it, then it'll work again, but lost that nights sleep data.

Not sure if this is related, but it will seemingly randomly buzz 15-30 mins after putting it on some nights. I don't have any alarms set.

Any ideas what's going on, or how to fix it?

  • For example, I had that setting disabled from the very beginning. However, I "only" experience the problem with lost data every few weeks. Maybe that fits right into the picture.

  • I actually had that setting enabled before because Garmin Express couldn't detect the device when plugged into my PC, but I was losing the connection after every single charge.
I always charge it via my PC. Maybe this clue will be helpful.

  • For whatever reason, be it the most recent iOS update or the most recent GC update, my ISM keeps loosing the sync and I have to re-pair.  I will see if the USB setting fixes things.  But tot he point raised by  I have the USB setting enabled so I can sync the ISM with Garmin Express.

  • one question, why do you sync with garmin express?

  • Sometimes for my other devices - Edge, FR265 - I find firmware version updates go smoother using Garmin Express.  Also sometimes when I am charging my device, I chose to charge it on my PC and Garmin Express will launch automatically.

For whatever reason, I trust the update process with Garmin Express more than GC.  Don't know why.

  • My ISM still does this every few weeks and has to be forgotten from my connected mobile phone (Android 17) and re-paired.

With the battery life of the ISM now half what it was when new, I am wondering if fixing this problem is even worth it. It now last 3 or 4 nights of use between charges, and it was new in October 2025, not even a year old and getting half the advertised battery life. Might be better served just swapping it for a CIRQA or something else.

  • Higher up in this thread there is talk about pairing getting lost if USB storage is enabled.  Do you know if that feature is enabled on your ISM?

Battery life though, that is a mystery.  I am still getting about five nights per charge out of the ISM.  I've had mine about a year or longer for reference.  But that is just a seat of my pants tracking.  After I charge the ISM next I'll do some more accurate tracking of how the battery lasts.

  • I check the USB storage setting. It is switched off, has been the whole time as far as I can tell.

  • I have had to repair my ISM with my iPhone once or twice after charging.  I am trying to determine if the method of charging has any impact.  I think both times the ISM forgot my iphone was when I was using an Anker fast charging block.  As luck would have it I have to charge my ISM today. I am going to charge the ISM with a standard Apple charging block to see if that makes any difference.
