Heart Rate Broadcast BLE Issue After Firmware Update

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a heart rate broadcasting issue on my Garmin Cirqa after updating to the latest firmware.

With firmware 2.32 and earlier, everything worked correctly in both ANT+ and Bluetooth (BLE) with:

Garmin Edge 530
Garmin Edge 840
Zwift on iPad Air
TrainerRoad on iPad Air
Rouvy on iPad Air
Strava on iPhone 15 / iPad Air

After updating to the new firmware:

ANT+ still works correctly on Garmin Edge
BLE has started experiencing problems, specifically:

Garmin Edge 530: BLE connection continuously loops between “Connected” and “Disconnected”
Garmin Edge 840: same “Connected” → “Disconnected” infinite loop
Rouvy on iPad Air: BLE heart rate broadcast no longer works
TrainerRoad on iPad Air: BLE heart rate broadcast no longer works
Strava on iPhone 15: BLE works perfectly but not on iPad Air
So the issue seems to be specific to BLE broadcasting introduced with the new firmware, while ANT+ remains unaffected.

Has anyone else experienced the same issue with Garmin Cirqa after updating the firmware?

In particular, I’d be interested to know if anyone has tested BLE with Edge 530/840, Rouvy or TrainerRoad.

  • The information shared in this thread has been forwarded for investigation, and work is currently underway toward a resolution for the reported BLE heart rate broadcasting behavior on the CIRQA. Users have reported that broadcasting heart rate over ANT+ remains functional.

For those experiencing this concern, we recommend bookmarking or following this discussion. Any meaningful updates regarding the investigation will be posted here as they become available.

Thank you all for your continued patience and for taking the time to share your reports and testing results.

  • This is my solution. Returning until the beta testing is over

  • I can pair the Cirqa with the Bosch Flow app, but it only shows "--" for the HR data. Without a connection, it would show "0," so there is a connection; however, the data value is not being displayed. The Cirqa can be added to the device list on the eBike normally, and it shows a green circle when the broadcast is active.

    1. @garmin  can you please provide an update, this was the main reason for my purchase of the Cirqa , the ability to broadcast HR, as many have already said worked fine before the update, disappointed with a new product full of bugs.
  • Can you please advise when HR casting will be resolved,  this is the main reason I purchased the Cirqa.

  • Thanks for the post,  . Can you let us know what you're experiencing so we can better advise and give appropriate troubleshooting?

  • The broadcasting of HR to both Zwift and Garmin Edge 530 continues to drop out

  • Any update on the fix, or a ETA of an update. I am same as most people, purchase cirqa because of the Bluetooth. Just little frustrated in what normally is a outstanding company

  • We're currently rolling out firmware version 3.20 for the CIRQA, which added support for entering pairing mode during BLE heart rate broadcasting to establish the connection. This update can be downloaded through Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile, and you can manually check for the update by opening the Garmin Connect app and selecting More (bottom-right) > Garmin Devices > Select your device > System > Software Update.

If you're still experiencing this behavior after updating your CIRQA to v3.20, and you have the latest version of the Garmin Connect app installed, please comment on this thread.

  • Thank you for the quick reply on the forum, I really appreciate it. If I’m still having issues, I’ll flag it on here and also through the support chat. Fingers crossed this sorts it — hopefully it nails it, just like most of your devices do! Fingers crossed
