I want to be able to see the ahead/behind time on my main data screen too, without having to switch to a dedicated segment screen. I used to be able to do this before, and now I can’t. So I’m not asking for a new feature, just for an option that used to exist to be brought back. In my particular case, that’s really the only useful part of Strava Live Segments.

Forum Post: RE: Turn Prompts doesn't work when navigation by courses

Oh, now I see. The Garmin switches to navigation mode because arrows appear on the course, but it doesn't provide sound prompts for turns. I’m also aware of the issue where elevation data from GPX files imported from third-party services can be incorrect, so I adjusted the route again in Garmin itself using their elevation data. I’d already encountered this issue with the Wahoo and my Garmin Epix, where the Climb Pro feature wouldn’t work otherwise because the gradients were too flat. The only thought that just occurred to me: Is there a limit to how many data pages the Edge can display? Admittedly, I created a few extra pages because I was experimenting with different views. I’ll test it out in a “bare” profile.

Forum Post: RE: Strava Live Segments on Edge 1050: Lack of Feature Parity

Hi @aweatherall , thanks for the clarification. Would it be possible to add or bring back a “time ahead / behind” indicator for segments, both for Strava Live Segments and Garmin Segments , visible on the user’s main data screen , without having to switch to a dedicated segment screen? Ideally this could be shown with a simple green/red background , depending on whether you are ahead or behind, so you can tell your status at a glance and without leaving your main screen during the effort. I don’t understand why this was removed . Thanks.

Forum Post: edge 1050 chunk of map data missing

weird behaviour on my 210km bike ride. for some reason there is a big gap in my data (4hours gone) esp visible in strava: I checked fit file and it looks like it was turned off, and turned back on when the data starts showing again but I used the edge for navigation, showed climbpro and had it on for the whole ride. It seems to be random - sometimes the edge and the radar both wake up and radar/light network function as normal. But I’d say 50% of the time I need to reboot the 840 to get the radar icon to stop flashing. On the ride today I had to reboot at the start, and then again mid-ride after waking the 840 to resume a ride in progress. Very annoying. It’s like something goes wrong in the handshake between the varia and Edge after waking. If you’ve only got the FIT file you will need to copy it to your PC and edit using a hex editor such as HxD. I’ve tested it on a file and it is straightforward, as long as only existing characters are changed. Do not add or remove characters as it will corrupt the file. After editing send it back to the Edge as a new file.

Forum Post: RE: Varia rear View 820 Radar Error

agree

Forum Post: Random freeze or crash reports all over this forum for years

I would suggest Garmin not to close discussions about the ongoing random crashes. Are the routable maps on the Garmin Edge 850 updated? A brand new Garmin Edge 850 comes with older versions of the maps pre-installed. This affects a lot of the features of the Garmin so updating the maps can sometimes fix all sorts of routing and map based problems. To update these maps the quickest way is to plug the Garmin Edge 850 into a PC via USB and use the Garmin Express software. https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/software/express/windows/ With the Garmin Edge 850 connected it gives the option to download the latest maps. These are quite big downloads, depending on how much of the World map you want on the device On my Garmin Edge 850 these are the current version numbers for UK maps location. The location you're riding needs to have the correct maps loaded on the device.
