They’ve been around for so many years, despite all the firmware updates, right up to the latest beta (31.20). Adding new features still appears to take priority over stability. Yes, you're assumption is correct, just tried changing the file name in Windows. Next sanity check... If I go to edit the name on the 530 itself I can't find a way to just delete individual characters. There isn't any arrow to move between the characters and the backspace key deletes the whole string, not just the last character. Am I missing anything here? Just aggravating that I have to retype the whole thing when I just want a minor edit of the existing name.

Forum Post: RE: Climb Pro and Strava Segments don't show up

If both Climb Pro and Strava segments don’t work have you tested whether navigation and turn by turn directions via a loaded Course is working? Are the routable maps on the Garmin Edge 850 updated? A brand new Garmin Edge 850 comes with older versions of the maps pre-installed. This affects a lot of the features of the Garmin so updating the maps can sometimes fix all sorts of routing and map based problems. To update these maps the quickest way is to plug the Garmin Edge 850 into a PC via USB and use the Garmin Express software. https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/software/express/windows/ With the Garmin Edge 850 connected it gives the option to download the latest maps. These are quite big downloads, depending on how much of the World map you want on the device On my Garmin Edge 850 these are the current version numbers for UK maps location. The location you're riding needs to have the correct maps loaded on the device. I had the problem with my HRM pro plus, Speed Sensor 2 and my old cadence sensor. If i turned on the device and sensors connect, everything was fine. But if the device then went to sleep and I woke it again sensors would not reconnect. Only a full powercycle with make sensor connect again. I reported an incident with Garmin and after a while they suggested enrolling into beta and test latest version. The issue is now gone and i general the device works perfectly. I did not see any other issues on my ride today.

Forum Post: RE: 1050 won't reconnect sensors after pausing

Hello all I have been testing the latest beta software version 31.20B as suggested by Garmin Support. Connected to an Edge 1050, latest software I’m using the same mount as my 515 and I rarely had issues with it, it would start detecting vehicles from way back. I took my 820 for my first big ride with it today and it is only detecting vehicles when they are nearly on me, around 20 feet or so. It seems to detect larger vehicles at a greater distance. I tried resetting/restarting/reconnecting both the Edge and the Rearvue 820 and no luck, it still won’t detect vehicles until they are nearly passing me.

Forum Post: RE: Varia rear View 820 Radar Error

I fully agree. Garmin had 2 good products: 1) Ant+ HR sensor (that I got with Garmin Edge 1030). The battery lasted for 3.5 years(!) and finally the plastic was not able to hold the screw. So the electronic still works but the cover is broken... 2) Garmin Virb 360 camera. Working fine but it looks like Garmin support is unable to answer a very-very simple question and keep me redirect to a webpage where actually there is no information at all. When they presented the Garmin Vector 3 power meter and it had multiple problems the engineering team attempted to answer and help. But finally Garmin learnt that if there is no competitor then they do not need to answer questions. It is a good business they develop something, people pay a lot of money to get that product and help with test results for Garmin and maybe they can fix the issue. I really hope this radar will not be such bad like the Vector 3 was at the beginning and the material of the pedal still scrap... A good competitor would be good for Garmin and in that case they would change their mind...

Forum Post: RE: Editing course names with pc?

The course name is embedded inside the file, so changing the filename, which I assume you’re doing, will have no effect. I've also tried removing, readding, fully resetting the device and connecting it in mass storage mode - but still no dice. In this article the Garmin Edge 1040 has its barometric altimeter hole in a different location (under the USB charging cover cap at the rear of the device). support.garmin.com/.../ This Gplama youtube video about Garmin Edge Elevation Accuracy is from 2017. Even though it’s talking about old models of Garmins (not the Edge 1050) this still applies today. There was a wide variation in total elevation between identical Garmin units as well as variations between models. https://youtu.be/bPyEtZH3QaU?si=EeoW9vb8sA_Eqf9q There’s not a great deal that can be done to make one Garmin Edge unit match another exactly for elevation. It is possible to save a starting location and give that a fixed elevation, so that at least it will begin with the same initial elevation value each time. www8.garmin.com/.../GUID-1833C7CC-667E-48C7-B7D2-7A6041470478.html
