Maps are the standard ones, nothing third-party loaded. T he ride was long — moving time was 8:17:31, total time 15 hours 30 minutes — which is why the radar battery started running down. Connected sensors were: cadence, HRM, and a Varia RTL515 (battery was low, then critical low). I had turned off the Varia's tail light to save battery, leaving only the radar function active. The device rebooted twice, about 20-30 minutes apart, with no error messages at all — it just restarted. After the reboot, the tail light turned back on, and my activity was in a state as if I had pressed Finish but hadn't confirmed it yet — the screen had a red outline and a checkered flag icon. This issue never happened on previous firmware versions. If there's anything I can do to help investigate this, I'd be happy to.

Forum Post: RE: Edge 1040 Topoacive Maps Failed to Install/Update

I'd return it if I were you. You gave me the hint I needed. Before reading your reply I tried a few things and kind of solved it. First, I had ‘Battery Saver’ disabled. It was never a problem when I only road outdoors. I went to, Menu > System > Display > Backlight Timeout I set ‘Backlight Timeout’ to ‘Stays On.’ The problem is that this is a universal setting that affects all cycling profiles. I use two profiles, one for riding outdoors and one for riding indoors now that I have the trainer. I tried disabling ‘Auto Sleep,’ which is set on a per profile basis but that was not the solution so I enabled it again. This is where I acted on your hint about the Battery Saver setting. I enabled ‘Battery Saver’ which also had it’s own ‘Backlight Timeout’ setting which I set to ‘Use Current Setting.’ This appears to solve the problem that I was having although it would have been better had the backlight just stay on while in a training session without extra settings getting in the way. The reason I say that is because, like I said, this is a universal setting that will also affect when using the outdoor riding profile which is not ideal. It means I have to be aware of the backlight setting every time I switch between trainer and outdoor riding. Anyway, thanks for pointing me in the right direction,

Forum Post: RE: TopoActive Map Installation Fails Repeatedly – “Some Changes Not Applied” – Edge 540

Edge 1050, Poland, latest firmware and Express. Unfortunately, the installation failed again at around 50% , with the same “Some Changes Not Applied” error. An important clue came from another user in this thread, blackadderajr . They mentioned checking the Garmin Express Operations.log file and finding an error related to the map activation/unlock process. Based on that clue, I also checked my own Garmin Express logs after my latest failed installation. I found the following: Garmin Express successfully downloaded the TopoActive South Asia 2023.30 files: 006-DA594-00 006-DA596-00 006-DA671-00 However, the operation then failed with: UnlockError followed by: System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: Request failed with status code InternalServerError The exception occurs in: Networking.Omt.UniversalMaps.ActivateAsync The request was sent to Garmin's map activation service, and the server returned HTTP 500 InternalServerError . I can also see multiple HTTP 500 responses with different Garmin trace IDs in the log. This seems to indicate that the map files are downloading successfully, but the map activation/unlock stage is failing . This is particularly interesting because the installation consistently reaches around 50% before showing “Some Changes Not Applied.” I have now also tested with a brand-new Belkin USB cable , and the same failure occurred, making a cable/USB issue much less likely. Could Garmin please check the map activation/unlock service and the associated trace IDs from my logs? I can provide the complete Garmin Express log if required. Thanks.

Forum Post: Custom cues not spoken from Ride with GPS

When creating routes in Ride with GPS, you can add custom cues to point out hazards, POIs, or other personal cues.
