So I had one day, this last Friday night, where it worked normally, recording my ride and finding satellites. I did not think to look at version or anything else - I was just happy it was working. I went for a ride Saturday morning and complete disaster. Back to Acquiring Satellites again but that was not all. Now my speed sensor was disconnecting and reconnecting every 30 seconds, so even using it as a display for current metrics was no good (settings showed it was at 85% and it worked with Ride With GPS). It also dropped my power meter and HR monitor completely. I tried to force update, wondering if that would fix things (but based on all of the 31.29 comments, I had little hope). I saw I was on version 31.23 and 31.29 was available so I clicked the Update button and waited. After it was over, I checked the version and nothing changed - still on 31.23 with 31.29 available and an Update button. When I got home, I hooked it to my PC to see if I could do the update with Garmin Express. That was even worse as I went into a boot loop of collecting diagnostics, saving diagnostics, reboot. Disconnecting it from the PC allowed it to boot up but still stuck with Acquiring Satellites and on 31.23. That was the final straw. I entered a chat with Garmin Support and laid out original issue which was on day 28 and then all the new issues stacked on top of that. Without hesitation, they offered to send me a new unit. Original purchase was May 18, 2025, so I didn't think replacement was even an option they would offer. The first issue arose May 2 and my first contact with support was May 9, so maybe that was a consideration and it fell under warranty because as of now, I am 12 days out of warranty. A short press OK only selects/deselects gear, and Cancel (lower right button) saves the ride with no gear.
