Varia RTL510 shut off when placed in mount

My Varia RTL510 automatically turns off when placed in the mount.  I can turn the unit on, hold it in my hand for a few minutes and as soon as I finish the turn to place it in the mount it turn off.   

This is a new behavior, it has been operating flawlessly for a few years.   FWIW, I'm using it paired with a Hammerhead Karoo 2 though I don't think the Karoo is doing anything.. I see this behavior when the Karoo is switched off

Is this some sort of setting or option for the Varia?  How can I disable this behavior?

    Ok.. mystery solved.. my seat post mount for the Varia was very close to the underside of the saddle.  As I twisted the Varia into the quarter turn mount.. the switch was brushing up against the underside of the saddle and turning off the Varia.    I'm guessing the or seat post must have slipped because the Varia was working fine with this mount for a long time prior
