Great experience with Garmin support. Without discussion a replacement battery door is being send to my home. First time Garmin support is actually helpfull.

Hi All,

Have been using a set of Rally 200 pedals since September 2024.
Last year I had the issue that the pedals kept disconnecting from my Edge 1040.
This got solved by swapping the batteries.

This week, during a cycle holiday in Spain, the power meter started misbehaving again.
Half way a ride, they sensor kept disconnecting every 3-4 minutes from my Edge.

Tried the following to fix this:
- Swapped left & right battery (as I did the last time I saw this problem) -> No change
- Installed 2 new batteries from the same brand as before (Duracell) & re-pair with Edge -> No change
- Installed 2 new batteries from other brand (Varta) & re-pair with Edge -> No change

Ended up disabeling the sensor as I got annoyed from the constant beeping.

Any ideas? Or will this be a warranty call?

Think I found the cause... one of the contact points in the left pedal is missing. (Found it sitting loose in the battery compartement)

Hello,

Edge is currently on FW 30.21. Upgraded to this release last week, but the problem also appeared using 30.18.

Rally pedals are connected using ANT+.

After I unpaired the pedals, I did a restarted the Edge. (power off, wait, power on)

All other sensors (HRM, Speed, SRAM AXS, 4iiii power meter on my second bike) work just fine, so I'm pretty sure the problem is on the pedal side and not the Edge.

This evening my bike is back at home from Spain. Gonna try and clean the contacts in the pedals. That's the last thing I can think of.

which firmware is in the 1040? latest stable 30.21 or are you in the beta and 31.2x? when you re-paired the rally, did you turned the Edge fully (so not suspend/sleep mode) or just deleted and re-paired ? remove the pairing again and try to press and hold the power button until apprx 30sec (there will be pop up menus, then the unit will switch off by itself , still wait and after the screen will flicker , maybe a Garmin logo will pop up, , after this you can release the power button), after this turn on the Edge, re-pair the Rally and test it again. from the 3-4min periodically disconnect it looks like a comm chip freezing to me, any other sensor drop or do you use any other sensors ? (hrm, spd, radar, etc?) . is it via ANT+ or BT? if you can send me the FIT file in private message, i can take a look on it.

Thanks! We use the same indoor bike just at different times! The crank length is the same; she just lowers the saddle and moves it forwards slightly.

I am considering buying a pair of RS210 Pedaks and would pair them with my Connect account for use on the road.

But at home, I'm using ROUVY and FulGaz on an exercise bike which I share with my wife.

So I have 2 questions:

1. Would the RS210 pedals connect directly to ROUVY on the Apple TV to measure power?

2. Would my wife be able to use the same setup but without pairing the pedals to her Connect account?

pairing it to a Connect account is only for registration and firmware update and a few settings , it is working "standalone" on any bike, doesnt matter who use it or with which kind of head unit (with head unit you can modify the settings also). the only thing what to do is modifying the crank length setting via app or head unit if you have (i assume your wife's crank is shorter than yours). you can connect it directly to appletv via BT in Rouvy, np.

if you dont modify the crank length for your wife (not mandatory just if you want pinpoint accurate power measuring for her), then she will have a bit overmeasured power but not significant (lets say your is 175mm and her is 165mm, then 175/165=6%)

I got the pedals installed on my main bike today. Pairing them seems harder than it ought to be - certainly harder than Vector 1,2, and 3, and the first Rallys - but it's done and I'll be riding them tomorrow. The pedals seem to have gone to sleep faster than they did yesterday.

Next step is to swap the Rally pedals I removed onto the bike that now has Vector 3's.

I charged the pedals until the green light turned solid, then paired them with Garmin Connect on my iPhone, including updating the software to 6.44. I haven't installed them on my bike yet. They are supposed to go to sleep after 4 minutes of inactivity, but they are just sitting on my desk, and the left pedal finally stopped flashing green after about 20 minutes, and the right one has switched to flashing blue (or is it purple - I can't see colors that well) and went another 5 minutes. It just now stopped flashing.

Is this at all normal or expected?

I'm looking for the replacement XC200 pedals in Europe. I can only find the right one. The left one is nowhere to be found. Has Garmin discontinued these yet?

its all been discontinued. i made a request with garmin for support and was told nothing was available and it was discontinued. my vectors need new bodies but i cant get any. i can find some pedal bodies in other garmin regions but they wont ship internationally.

if favero made a keo version of their pedal id have ordered a set already. but they dont and i dont want to change cleats on all my shoes in different locations and then also buy a pair of SPD-SL for the turbo, the cost + time spent doesnt add up. So im almost definitely being forced into buying a new set of RK210s at some point.

imagine buying a pair of Rallys at the beginning of last year, before the new ones came out and garmin would be unable to support a broken pedal body and thus be in breach of the 2 year warranty i assume?

Are we in the same boat? I find it strange that parts aren't available for a product that's just been discontinued but is still available. I'll wait another week or two and then buy the FAVERO ASSIOMA PRO MX-2 MTB POWER METER. The advantage is that the replacement bodies are 70% cheaper than Garmin's, and I'm also supporting the European manufacturing industry.

This is appalling from Garmin if they are not supporting the Rally xc100/200 pedal as not long been updated. I have the same issue with bearings on one pedal ruined (xc100) ans am searching for body only replacement. @garmin surely you can help?

It certainly looks that way. The bodies on my Vector 3s have worn out which means a perfectly good pair of expensive spindles are destined for the scrap bin as I cent find a Vector or Rally replacement anywhere.

Left Rally RK200 not answering: how can Master mode be detected

Problem:

Right Pedal shows 3 LED flashes (means left Pedal not found). No LED Blinking from left Pedal, no Connection to Edge Computer.
I chatted with Garmin service and get a repair set FOR FREE! The problem however remains. Battery checked. Battery problems are out of question.

In my opinion the pedal pivot shaft may be the source of the problem.

Questions:

1. How find the left pedal out his role as Master?
Garmin Service stated, that the litle round control panel is identical for both sides.
Does anyone know, how the left control panel find out his role as master? Eprom? Jumper?

2. Replacement of pedal pivot shaft
Unfortunately Garmin does not offer pedal pivot shaft. At Amazon I found a dubious offer

Rally RK210 travel mode and battery life

After using travel mode with my new Rally RK210 pedals, the best work around I've found to get the out of travel mode is to carry and portable charger with usb c cable for the charging adapter and power up the pedals. What is the battery life expectancy of the pedals when they are not in travel mode and traveling to the trails. This seems like a design flaw. Thoughts on if garmin has any plans to fix this in the future with a software update?

Yes, I have all those data points on my garmin edge. Your and GPL opinions are valid and your own. I have invested in the Garmin environment. When I buy a product, I have expectations. If they are promoting a feature and it doesn't work I have issues with that. My main concern is with the battery life and taking the pedals out the travel mode before a starting a ride. If that is fixed with a firmware update that would be ideal.

No. Unfortunately ANT+ is not enough. From the support article the Rally 210 needs a BLE secure connection for the force data.

Phone pairing is necessary to put the pedals in travel mode. If I remove the pairing of the pedals from my phone there is a way to manually re-enable pairing. That required removal of the pedals.

Manually Enabling

Remove the pedals from the bike.
Hold the left pedal horizontal.
Turn pedal vertical facing, hold for two seconds.
Turn pedal horizontal, hold for two seconds.
Turn pedal vertical facing down, hold for two seconds.
Turn pedal horizontal, hold for two seconds.
The light on your Pedals will start flashing purple to indicate they are in pairing mode.

Sounds like you're you not taking advantage of all the features of your Rally 210 pedals having them in just ANT+.

why do you need secure BT connection? isnt the normal ANT+ not enough? a totally unnecessary feature imho. but the user manual says that you can use this secure BT power sensor connection WITHOUT phone also, so as i wrote before, the Phone pairing is not necessary after registration and/or put into travel mode. Maybe it is a bug in the Connect app or i dont know, this BLE connection should have terminated after putting into travel mode

In which case maybe you need a lanyard between the adapters and your cables so that you can't remove the cables without pulling off the adapters.

From the manual, the phone need to be paired to connect to the pedals to put them in travel mode. I have the pedals paired via BLE to get the cycling dynamics with secure connection. Bluetooth connects automatically with the phone.

I was a bit surprised when I saw the adapters for the first time. I thought Garmin would use a magnetic connection but maybe they can't because Apple invented it and won't licence it to Garmin? At least they avoided using the type of connector on their watches which is problematic.
