Restarting during ride

My daily problem is that when recording activity, the device constantly restarts, navigation is off, I don't touch the device, it just restarts... sometimes after every 10-12km, for example on a 170km trip it restarted 13 times

VERSION 6.06, does anyone have a similar problem?

The device is new directly from Garmin, I have it only 20 days and I am struggling with this problem, ah my problems with Garmin will probably never end...

Lots of people have recommended Garmin to me saying: stable, quality and long lasting device...

I first purchased a Garmin Fenix 8, after 4 months the watch was restarting with the flashlight on, so the complaint department, it took a lot of time explaining since they just wiped and updated the device ahh

Garmin Varia out of the box couldn't even just turn on completely non-functional, again the complaint department

I don't know what to do, every Garmin device is faulty and waiting for 30 days to process a claim during the summer season is unacceptable ahhhhhhh

There should be something in the

Garmin\Debug\Dump folder ram.zip

You can upload that to Garmin by

Yes. Starts up again and shuts down every 2 to 5 min. But only when i ride, not if it is lying in the table....

I have the exact same problem on my 1040, on. beta 31.23.

Did you fix this in any way?

In addition to what I commented: With Beta 31.23 for the Edge x40, x50 series and for Edge MTB, it is now possible to connect Bosch eBikes of the smart system.

Un amigo me ha dejado un Garmin antiguo el Edge 705, para ver si me acostumbro a un ciclocomputador , lo quiero para grabar mis trayecto y poder seguir los tracks que estamos haciendo para el Camino de Santiago.

Upload segment from Edge to Garmin Connect?

So I created couple segments from a ride sent it to my garmin edge MTB and they show up there so that part is good. However, these segments disappeared from my Garmin Connect. How do I send them back from the Edge MTB to Connect? Why did they disappear in first place? Is it something to do with the trail perhaps?

Turn Prompts doesn't work when navigation by courses

Hi,

When I navigate using a GPX course, my Garmin doesn’t alert me when there’s a turn. The Garmin switches to navigation mode because arrows appear on the course, but it doesn't provide sound prompts for turns. I have to keep looking at the screen and following the track so I don’t miss a turn. Does the Edge MTB require any special courses format? How do I set up turn alerts when navigating a course?

Oh, now I see. I had everything turned off. The settings were buried deep in the menu. I turned everything on; I'll check it tomorrow. Thanks for the help :)

You may want to check that Turn Navigation is enabled and that you have a routable map for the area you in.

Navigation -> Courses -> 3 Dot menu top right corner of the screen -> Turn Guidance

Stop timing gates - not working

I dropped in, messed up my line 20sec later so I stopped and walked back up. Went to the menu, Select Stop Timing Gates but nothing happened. Tried several times but no luck. The gate timer was still going until I reached the finish gate. Waste of run and pedal up.

Got to trailhead, changed profile to Enduro (I see Enduro on the screen) start recording only to find out later that my activity is being recorded as DH activity. When I saved the activity I still see Enduro the profile selected on the screen. It is annoying as you get different screens with the DH activity than with Enduro. However I did appreciate not having to manually tell it whether I am going to Climb or going Dowhhill lol. Can we have that by default for Enduro?

Profile disappeared

I am on the latest software 30.18. I noticed that E-Enduro profile was missing in Garmin connect iphone app and soon enough it was gone from the garmin Edge MTB as well. Is that a bug?

Thanks for the reply. Will reset wipe out my timing gates and segments from the device? It happened after the update.

Yeah, profile disappearing on Edge MTB after the last firmware is pretty common lately.

Quick fix that worked for most people:

Go to Settings > System > Reset > Delete all user data (this keeps maps and activities)
Restart the device
Set up your profile again from scratch (it usually pulls most settings from Garmin Connect automatically)

If it keeps vanishing after rides, try forgetting the device in Garmin Connect and re-pairing it. Garmin is aware and a proper fix should come in the next update.

Did it happen right after a software update or during a ride?

Just found out that you cannot create segment from your enduro activity - segments are not there. I cannot even change the activity type to mountain - I get an error - Garmin? I just found a workaround though - export the activity, save and then import it again. It will be saved as general cycling activity and you will see segments.

Enduro mtb profile does not have segments.

Bug apparently. Segments don't work with the Enduro MTB profile.

SRAM AXS POD controller

Hi all,

I have a new Garmin Edge MTB. I had assumed I could use a spare button on my AXS POD controller to page through screens, my left POD is linked to an AXS reverb seat post. I did get the submenu "ANT+ Function Setup" one time but it no longer appears. The "ANT+ Function Setup" didn't let me do anything.

I thought I'd seen people using this on x40/x50 EDGE but a deeper search shows the Garmin documentation is a bit vague and the comments around on the internet don't give much clarity.

Has it worked for anyone?

This seems to be a consistent problem. I swapped my rocker controller on another bike for a Pod and had exactly the same experience. That's several versions of SW later for both the Garmin and the AXS Pods.

I had to revisit my own post to recall the fix is to temporarily assign two ANT functions to allow the first function to be configured.

Such a bummer we can't see results from gates across all applicable activities. I am seriously considering returning mine Edge MTB because of this and because the gates don't always work. I take the time to set them up only to find later they did not register. Also, there should be a choice to pick up gates from the community for given segment. Setting them up is so time consuming.

We had planned to use Gates for downhill racing – exactly the kind of purpose they should be perfect for. Unfortunately, they fall short.

Setting them up works.
Riding them works.
But… there’s no way to compare runs unless you manually write down times. That makes the feature almost useless in practice.

What’s missing:

The ability to compare repeated runs automatically.
Support for sections instead of just full runs. In I rarely ride top-to-bottom at full speed.. Often we only run parts at race speed and take breaks, sometimes we repeat a tough section,shuttlle/walk back up to try again.

As it is now, Gates feel very rudimentary and don’t offer much practical use. With some improvements, though, this could be a powerful tool for MTB training and racing.

Anyone else struggling with the same limitations?
