Garmin Edge Explore - failure to record distance travelled.

I have a Garmin Edge Explore. Today, for the first time, it would not record/show distance travelled. I'm wondering if I may have inadvertently reset the recording parameters. Can anybody offer a possible solution. Thanks very much.

If you swipe down from the top of the screen, do you see all 5 green GPS bars or are they crossed out? if you tap on "GPS" you have the option to enable or disable it.
