Edge Explore and Eagle AXS / eTap

I have an Edge Explore. I used to have the 520 but wanted to connect it to Shimano Steps for my ebike. I found I couldn't so changed to the newer Edge Explore. I assumed I would still be able to connect to my SRAM AXS/eTap but it seems I cannot - is that right?

The GARMIN Edge Explore is not listed as a supported device, but maybe you can try it anyway:

If a Garmin device supports the ANT+ Shifting spec then it will support connectivity to both the SRAM etap and SRAM AXS. It may not support the larger cassette size that the newer system has introduced.

I don't believe that the Explore supports connectivity to electronic shifting systems.
