Previewing Open Street Maps

I'm a relatively new Edge Explore user. I recently downloaded the Open Street Map for an area we will be visiting in a few months. I'd like to preview the map to make sure it loaded on the Explore properly. How can I do this?

You can view the map on your PC using Garmin Basecamp while the EE is coupled to the PC through USB (mass storage mode). The first time the import of the map data in Basecamp may take a long time depending on the map size.

You can upload to device some course of that region, then select that course for navigaton. During course selection for navigation, use "Map" option to see preview of the course. Course will be fit to the screen and will be displayed on top of map currently used by device.

Please remember to switch off other maps before.

All the units come with a world basemap (which is displayed at low zoom levels). The basemap does not have much detail.

* Zoom out and pan (slide) the map to where your OSM map is.

* Then, zoom in. You should see lots of detail.

You can even use the course preview for this with a course in the map area.

You only need to disable a map if it overlaps the one you want to use.
