Distance/time to point

I have a new Edge Explore. I used a ride today downloaded from a cycling event last year. In addition to the regular major turns the Garmin continually showed me “Dist to Point” on every minor twist in the road and beeped. Drove me nuts. I tried everything to turn this off any ideas?

This has also started happening to me; it's not the data fields or zoom, its a different screen that pops up continually. How do we turn it off??

Those are data fields. You can choose the number of data fiields display from two to one or none.

from the home screen choose:

1. Menu (three horizontal lines

2. Ride Settings

3. Data Screens

4. Map

5. Layout and Data Fields

6. Chosse None, 1, or 2.

If you want to change the content of the data fileds, choose 1 or 2 in step 6, then touch the data fileld. The available data fileds will be displayed

Tried setting 'Auto Zoom' to OFF? Settings / Ride Settings / Map / Auto Zoom (On or Off)

If you have the Edge Explorer I called Garmin and they told me that’s how it comes so I returned mine and got an edge 830. But 5”that one has (after a reset I had to do) now started doing that as well!

After a map update using a Mac one of the mapfiles was missing. Re-installing the map on a Windows PC solved it.
