Thanks for the advice and feedback.

I did a bit of troubleshooting and noticed that the nav lag and unresponsive UI only occur when my eMTB's sensors are connected. At first I thought a data field was messing things up, so I tried disabling and then completely removing the "eBike metrics" screen, but neither helped.

My eMTB links up via three ANT+ sensors: power, combined speed/cadence, and one dedicated for eBike metrics (battery, assist level r/w, etc.). Now, disabling the latter seems to have done the trick.

Never had this issue before v31.33. Since I don't really use the data coming from that sensor anyway, I'm fine running it like this for now.

Navigation has become visibly sluggish, especially around turns, with a laggy and unresponsive UI.
I don't believe the maps are the cause of the slowdown, I was using the exact same maps previously, along with the same connected e-MTB.

In my case, the issue was introduced by the 31.33 update.

Iam not experiencing this issue, try resetting the device.

yeah, but after sw updates sometimes specific files got corrupted. did you try to soft reset the device? with the long press and hold the power button method (apprx 20s) until the device turns off by itself and the Garmin logo (or the screen) flickers for a short duration. (this is the sign of the hw reset)

Mivel nincs tomeges jelzes, ezert ez egyedi gond lesz.
Megneztem Stravan a legutolso aug30as tekeresed, ott latszik h akad a GNSS chip is (es meg nem is 1s rogzitesen vagy, hanem smarton, ) es fureszfogas a speed gorbe tole. szoval mindenkepp kene az a softreset amit irtam feljebb

As I mentioned, the only thing that changed was the software update. I’ve been using these exact maps - which are official Garmin maps with no 3rd party additions - and had zero issues on previous rides. The very first ride after installing 31.33 was a total struggle. Looking at the Edge 1040 forum, it seems others are experiencing similar issues as well.

try to delete all the maps and re-install them after a full switch off (are these official Garmin Topo maps or any 3rd party OSM or similar?)

I now have succesfully updated my Garmin Edge Explorer 2 on September 1st 2026.

Installation went through smootly

Hi,

I have a new EE2 and I would like to update the maps because they were quite outdated (from 2021 or so)

I connected the EE2 to my desktop PC and Garmin Express offered my to update the maps.

The update failed and following tips on the internet / AI I removed all old maps (west, central and east europe) with the map manager menue and tried to install the central europe map fresh.

This failed as well with the message "changes could not applied".

My device is on version 31.33.

I tried this also on my laptop but the result is the same.

Any ideas?

I just managed to update the maps, my device is now working, the problem has been solved.

Do you have any apps installed on your device? I have an Explore 2 with no third-party apps and had no trouble updating all of Europe to the 2026 maps without deleting older maps.

Same here 1040, 31.33, western Europe 2026.11 stops at 50%

Same issue for me. Brand new EE2 cannot update to latest version maps (Central Europe).

Map update fails again and again.

"Changes not applied".

Tried from different computers.

Device firmware and Express software up to date.

With the 31.33 beta firmware version, Bosch e-bike integration HAS arrived. It's not perfect (or I didn't manage to use it). It shows the battery charge %, the current and average watts. But it doesn't show the assist level and the remaining kilometers.

I don't know if Windows suffers a similar restriction like MacOS, but maybe another application is using a MTP connection at the same time, while only one is supported?

Thank you Bikepc01 bit I use a USB-C data cable as Garmin Express on the same PC can connect with the EE2. There must be something else??
