When will there be a map update for the Garmin Edge Explore 2?

Original Edge will not change time on screen

I have the original edge explore that, after trying EVERYTHING, will not change the time on the display screen. Ive reset twice, connect to Garmin connect and synced numerous times, updated and synced numerous times on Garmin Express, have left it switched on outside for hours and it just wont alter the time on the front screen. If i record a ride it updates Connect and strava with the correct time of the ride but still displays the wrong time.

Yesterday it was an hour out due to BST, now its 7 hours out due to resetting it.

Anything else i can try as this is driving me crazy!!!!!

Probably because your phone is now set to GMT+8

and another update, record a ride without GPS and it shows the correct time of day in Garmin Connect for the start time but when it uploads to Strava its showing the start time as 8 hours behind GMT.

As an update to this i have managed to get it to show the correct time temporarily by advancing my phone time zone on by 8 hours and changing the location to China and then forcing a sync with Connect. But i know as soon as i connect to GPS its going to change. Any ideas?

yes, only rides with power can do vo2, i see mine just when indoor cycling with trainer (and power meter)
but since you see no training effect in edge explore activities, i was wondering do you see any training load from such?
I mean is your cumulative training load going up after sessions with edge explore? (in theory it should as it's derivative of HR data, but with garmin it can be either way)

with edge 540 it works charm, but was wondering if i buy my missus explore 2 (she's primarily running), her load is goig to reflect cycling sessions?

Am I being ridiculous thinking that a simple code or algorithm addition could add the same functionality my Fenix 7 has? I read that the Explore 2 had VO2 max capabilities before I bought it so I thought I was all set. Now I am seeing that it actually only reads it back from Connect. Starting my watch and my Explore for each ride is asinine. I don't need all the other performance stats and training plans on the higher end models, so this was supposed to be perfect for me. What does the watch do differently? It uses my HRM, speed, time, etc. just like the Explore so why cant the Explore contribute to VO2?...

In fact, when comparing fit files from the Fenix to the Explore, the Explore has the same data, if not more. Temp is recorded too. So basically, the data required for training effect is there but not calculated on the device or on Connect? Seems intentional to me so that we have to upgrade or buy a power meter.

I see HERE that Unified Training Status would likely resolve this, but alas, the Explore 2 is not listed. Is there a specific reason that it can't be added?

You can check with your device settings to see if Elevation Profile is disabled, to do this you would into the menu > Activity Profiles, select which one you use > Data Screens > Map, Elevation Profile.

If you continue to have issues, I would recommend making sure the TopoActive map is up to date.

Good tp hear. I moved on and bought an 850 as my final "rest article". We will see how it works out for me it is, however, fast and bright. Never going back to dim screens.

I did a 3.5h ride with navigation (course uploaded). The device restarted for the first time after 4 mins into the ride, then mid-ride (2h or so) and then when I hit save it restarted again (luckily the ride seemed to saved...). During restart it did say that it was saving some troubleshooting data so... how do I report a bug and download the troubleshooting logs?

This was basically after 28.33 got installed earlier this week, never had such issues before.

I finally managed to do a couple of rides, some of them up to 2h and didn't get the issue anymore so it's possibly fixed.

In the white area used to be a line showing progress along the route and up gradients. I had turned off the hill climb prompt before this disappeared. It was handy having a marker to show how much hill was left. I still get the different colours and shape of gradient.

It's confusing me as well. I don't use it much for navigation, but I think it enters a different model or view when you are very close or just start to climb, and if you look at it before that than it's like in your picture. But maybe I haven't understand yet either

In the timer auto-pause settings, it does not allow you to set a speed lower than 1.6 km/h when you select custom speed.

Edge Explore 2 won't turn on

I put my Edge Explore 2 on charge last night with it showing 65% charge. This morning i went to turn it on and it was unresponsive. I plugged it in and started it and showed 0% charge, after which it shut down and now won't respond either with it plugged in or not. I have checked the power supply and cable and both are good. I've tried a hard reset with and without it plugged in and no response. Is it dead?

Then your only option is to disable Auto-Pause, is n't it? Also useful setting when you use the Explore 2 for hiking or other 'slow' activities.

I don't understand your answer, but if it is a problem, when you are on a route and going up a steep slope, even though you are certainly going faster than 1.6 km/h, the system must not measure the speed correctly and then the activity is paused, so it does not record distance and ascent during that time.

That is true. If you find that to be a problem, maybe some other activity would fit you better. Chess, for example.

Issues on 28.33 - unable to start activity

I found yesterday I was unable to start a ride because the start button was completely non responsive. The lap button is also not doing anything. I also noticed I do not get the power options on screen after holding the power button for a few seconds (power off, sleep etc)

Instead I held down the power button for longer for a hard reset but now it boots into USB MTP mode and is stuck there.

Tried hooking it up to the PC and Garmin express, it failed to update. Tried factory reset holding start, lap and power and it let me do that so it seems the physical buttons do work. After the factory reset I am stuck at square 1 again, not able to start any activity.

Many wasted hours, please help!

After more troubleshooting, I can connect the device to my PC and sync it, I can use the start button to "eject" it from the PC safely so the button is fine.

I was then promoted on the device to install 29.22 which I did, it completed but then restarted during the process and went into usb MTP mode where it gets stuck and I can't get around this without a hard reset using power/lap and start buttons simultaneously.

It currently shows software version "28.33 side loaded" with software update 29.22 there for me to install but I can't due to the above.

I now think that the issues are being caused by the device wrongly detecting the lap button being constantly activated and this is why restarts of the device are entering usb MTP mode, and this may also be interfering with the ability for the start activity button to be registered. I am at a dead end any suggestions welcome

Today it worked fine. I removed and added the sensor again in a specific order chatgpt told me. Works like a charm and i like the functionality. Didnt know explore2 not show advanced vehicle tracking, but it works very well. would say "dots" but vehicles, agree do not show different sizes, but threat level an position is quite accurate.
