Cuando configure las zonas de frecuencia cardiaca por % de umbral de lactato. Siendo el mia 143 ppm En la zona 1 pone <81%. Y me arroja valores de 114 a 115 ppm. No toma todos los pulsos para abajo como zona 1 si voy a 113 pulsos ya salta a zona 0.9

Edge 850 – Please support nested/overlapping segments and manual segment selection

I've been riding with the Edge 850 and segment tracking is the feature that disappoints me most. There are three problems:

Nested segments aren't tracked. When a segment starts inside another segment, the Edge ignores it. Strava times both after upload, so the data clearly supports it. The Edge just won't show them live. Many popular climbs have a shorter, steeper segment inside a longer one, and those are exactly the efforts riders want to pace.
Segments start late. Even with multi-band GNSS on, starts are often detected seconds after I've crossed the line, which makes live pacing unreliable right when it matters.
There's no way to choose a segment manually mid-ride. I can't pick a segment and say "track this one now." If the automatic detection gets it wrong or chooses the wrong overlapping segment, I have no control.

What I'm asking for:

Tracking of multiple overlapping segments at once, even if only one is shown on screen with the option to switch
Faster, more reliable start detection
A way to manually select or prioritize a segment during a ride

This is a premium device and competing head units handle segments more flexibly. I'd love to see this addressed in a firmware update. If other riders run into the same thing, please add your voice so Garmin can see how widespread this is.

Connect IQ data fields vanish

This issue appeared after the last software update SW 32.20. Here's what I did: before my ride, I made sure the Connect IQ data fields were working properly, but in the middle of the ride they didn't display anything and got stuck on the IQ icon, as you can see in the attached images. This has happened on my last few rides. Interestingly, on some rides I noticed that certain information had vanished, but as soon as I started a Strava segment, the data fields reappeared. This is annoying since I use several Connect IQ data fields as my main screens.

Cannot uninstall Korea map

I am trying to uninstall the Korea map, but when I do it updates the data, then proceeds to remove it, but apparently only removes the latest update, because afterwards it requests the data to be updated, and then says there is an update. If I proceed to click remove, it loops back with the date then "removes it, and so on.

I tried removing every other maps so only the korean one was there. Rebooted a lot, and so on, yet it persists. Redownloading Europe is a chore every time.

Anyone have any ideas short of resetting the whole device? Or is that my only option at this stage?

Edit: I tried deleting the temporary data but to no avail /end edit

I am on the 30.20 firmware and no updates are available

Problems with Garmin Edge 850 Time Ahead field

Hi,

I am using the "Race an activity" feature - I want to see how I'm doing as compared to a previous occasion when I did the same ride.

I have run into two problems:

When I start the activity, Time Ahead immediately shows a large number of seconds behind (eg 20 or 50), even though I'm starting from the exact same place as the previous ride. At the start of one ride, Time Ahead showed as over five minutes behind.
Whilst I'm in the middle of the ride, Time Ahead switches from X seconds ahead to X seconds behind. This would be understandable if X was 1 or 2 seconds. However, it happens for values of X of say 20 or 50.

I looked at the GPXs for a sample activity that I rode against and the activity that I recorded and can't see anything which would explain the above.

Has anybody else encountered these problems?

On 6/9/26 had a race and the trainingstatus didnt take it . Its now the 5fifth time it happens after a race . Since i have 850 . With 540 , never had this issue .

The Orange before was ok , now the purple is 0 .

On the device it was ok , but after sinc it went too Herstel/recovery . So everything is gone . So it is now LOW instead of maintain or productive .

Even my readiness is 95 hours . So my readiness did take race . But connect not .

I did upload the files after again, makes no difference.

Strava live segment

Edge 850 Strava Live Segments – Please show the actual Rival name like Edge 530

I recently moved from an Edge 530 to an Edge 850 and noticed an important regression in Strava Live Segments.

On the Edge 530, when racing a Strava Rival, I could see the actual name of the rider I was competing against.

On the Edge 850, the Live Segment interface shows only generic targets such as:

🥕 Rival Ahead
🐺 Rival Behind

The actual rider's name is not clearly displayed.

This makes the Rival feature much less useful. If the Edge tells me I am 5 seconds behind "Rival Ahead", I also want to know WHO that rival is.

I use Auto Select Effort because I want the Edge to automatically select the closest relevant rival for my current performance. I do NOT want to manually select a specific rider before every segment.

The ideal behaviour would be:

🥕 John Smith
+0:05

instead of:

🥕 Rival Ahead
+0:05

And if Auto Select Effort changes the rival during the segment, the displayed name should change accordingly.

The Edge 530 already provided a much more useful experience in this respect. The Edge 850 is a newer premium device, so removing the rider's name feels like a step backwards.

Garmin, please restore the actual Strava Rival name on the Edge 850 Live Segment screen while keeping Auto Select Effort functionality.

Is anyone else who upgraded from an Edge 530/830/840 missing this feature?

battery threshold

Could a feature added to setup a maximum charging threshold? In most cases I am satisfied to charge just up to 80 percent to increase battery lifetime. Apple and others added such a feature to their devices.

With 32.20, Edge 850 doesn't remember Battery Save Mode

I use my Edge 850 in Battery Save Mode. Each time I turn it on, the Edge asks me if it should turn off Battery Save Mode, and there is a check mark and an "X" to choose between. I touch the "X" and start riding. Sometimes, like today, the display doesn't go blank. I stop and go into Power Manager, and Battery Save Mode is disabled. Once I enable it again, it operates as expected.

Yesterday, I started riding and Battery Save Mode was enabled. After a few minutes, I noticed the screen was on. I stopped and checked, and the Battery Save Mode setting showed disabled. I think I had just gone over a pretty severe bump when I noticed this behavior, but I can't be sure that had anything to do with it.

I would be just as happy if, once I enabled Battery Save Mode, the Edge would not question whether I want to disable it at the start of each subsequent ride.

Workout screen beep bug

Hello,

with 32.20, I noticed a new bug.

When doing a workout and pause the workout in the last 5 seconds to the next step, the beep sound that starts in this last 5 seconds is going into an endless loop until you resume the workout again.

multiple bikes with AXS shifting systems

I have 2 bikes, each with different SRAM AXS shifting and power meters that are all setup as sensors on my garmin edge 850. When I turn on the edge it seems to randomly connect to one of the sensor sets (all being awake as it takes next to nothing to wake them up eg bumping the other bike when grabbing the one next to it). When I ride away on one bike, leaving the others behind, it seems to often (but not always) update to the power meter that’s actually in use. However it most often does not pickup the shifting in use and I have to manually connect them. Is there any way to make this work reliably? it seems such a fundamental failing in the sensor connection design!

Edge 850 – screen goes black every few seconds after 32.20 update

Since updating my new Edge 850 to firmware 32.20, the screen briefly goes black every 6–7 seconds during an activity and then immediately comes back. This repeats continuously until i shut down the Edge. forums.garmin.com/.../VID_5F00_20260822_5F00_183623.mp4

The device worked perfectly during my first two rides before the 32.20 update.

Has anyone else experienced this issue after updating to 32.20?

Edge 850 and Varia Detection of Trailing Vehicles

Recently upgraded from Garmin Edge 820 to 850. When using the 850 with a Varia, after initially notifying a following vehicle, it then goes to sleep and trailing vehicles aren't detected when there is a line of vehicles. My old 820 would stay awake until all vehicles passed, then turn green, then go to sleep. Garmin says the 850 is "working as intended." Is this how new Edge's function with a Varia?

BUG: Edge 850 & Fenix 8 eBike Profile loses data with Custom Shimano STEPS Assist Profiles

I am experiencing a data integration bug with both my Garmin Edge 850 and Fenix 8 Pro when using the native "eBike" activity profile connected to a Shimano STEPS EP6 motor. The issue is related to how the Garmin base code handles customized assist levels created via the Shimano E-Tube app.

Steps to Reproduce / The Issue:

Working Scenario: When I use the default, pre-configured Shimano profile (which features the standard 3 levels of assistance), both the Edge 850 and the Fenix 8 communicate perfectly with the e-MTB. The Garmin screens correctly read and display the current battery range (autonomy) and the active assist level.

Failing Scenario: If I use the Shimano app to create a custom assist profile (for example, adding more levels of assistance to fine-tune the ride), the Garmin devices completely fail to read the eBike data. Once the custom profile is active, the Edge 850 and Fenix 8 no longer detect or display the battery range information, nor do they show the current assist level.

Conclusion:
It appears to be a bug in Garmin's base code regarding the Shimano STEPS integration. The data parser seems strictly hardcoded to expect the default 3-level array and fails to parse the telemetry data when the Shimano system broadcasts a customized assist level structure.
Has anyone else with a Shimano STEPS motor experienced this when setting up custom profiles? Would appreciate it if Garmin engineers could look into this parsing logic for the next firmware update!

Maps in multi data screen will not do north up.

If i set to North up - the dedicated map page is north up.

however - when i have it in my 7 panel display it will not do north up.

any ideas? my 840 did this no problem? seem like a bug.

Hello!

Since the initial release of the Edge 850 in September 2025, the following features weren't usable:

WiFi Sync on startup -> new course via the Garmin Connect website or Garmin Connect app
WiFi Sync on arrival -> sync of track and training status
WiFi Upgrade-> new firmare

The third always failed. The others were dependent on coincidence and took a long time. Since the release of firmware 31.29 in May 2026, these features are as reliable as on the Edge 530.

Upgrade requirements
You must plug in your device into a computer with Garmin Express and do the upgrade one last time through the computer. Usually the Edge will over the upgrade after unplugging it. After the upgrade to 31.29, the 850 is capable of self-updating with WiFi.

Don't try an upgrade with a smartphone; it never works for me.
The macOS version of Garmin Express is not ported to Apple Silicon but still works reliable through the compatibility layer. I recommend macOS over Windows.
Windows should work, but ensure that it doesn't execute an enforced reboot for its own updates or havocs caused by anti-virus software.
Garmin Express doesn't support Linux. Linux itself works perfectly together with the Edge series, both through USB-Mass-Storage and USB-MTP.

I would appreciate it if Garmin shipped the firmware files and maps through HTTP. Adds support for Linux without further work. Copying a file to the Edge is less work than caring about a separate application.

battery indicator error after charge and Varia 820 control

i've had my 850 for about 3 months and here are some noticeable issues that i would like to see improvements on.

1. I knew that battery life on this was not optimal, however, it freaked me out a couple of times because the battery percentage UI was not updated when i turned it on before my ride.
ex.night before, battery was at 34% so just for sake of it, i decided to charge it overnight, unplug it in the morning and went to meet up location and turned it on. battery is at 34%. i freak out and switch display brightness to 30% instead of automatic. after not able to see much information for 3 hours, i finish my ride and viola, 80 something percent is left on the battery.
- this happened to me twice...

2. reason i went ahead and pulled an trigger on 850 instead of 840 was due to the fact that i invested into varia 820 since i was novice and did not want any trouble with cars behind me.
820 has been getting a lot of attention from peloton rides as it's pretty invasive to incoming traffic. after a couple of months, garmin released firmware update, which should help mitigate some of the issue by allowing users to customize personal lighting setting. i set it up as 30% light using customization on the phone application. when connected to 850, there is no option for me to choose customized light option. solid, flash, off, peloton, and cancel override?

i thought having me stranded into garmin echosystem would help me coordinate gadgets better, but it's almost guessing game, what would these settings do.
not to mention now my epix, phone and edige all makes their own warnings when there is cars and i am still not sure if my group is getting flash bang or not.

ClimbPro Is Very Inaccurate

Good morning,

I’ve had an Edge 850 for a few days now, and I’m testing the ClimbPro feature. I’m noticing discrepancies between the points and gradients indicated by the Edge and where I’m actually riding. Also, yesterday the Edge marked the end of the climb about 250 meters too early.
This morning, on a short climb of about 2 km, it started the climb about 300 meters later and ended it 30 meters earlier... and shortly after, I passed the start of another climb, which I didn’t take, but which the Garmin didn’t even flag...

Could these discrepancies be due to some setting, the maps, or something else?

Edge 850 crashes when calculating route

Hi,

I've uploaded a 280km (0,7Mb in size) route from Conncet to my brand new Edge 850 (SW 31.33). When selecting this route, the device starts calculating the route and crashes at 23%. Restarting the device doesn't help. Logfiles uploaded to Garmin. With shorter routes (50km) no problem occurs. Anyone experiencing the same problem?

Edge 850 won't connect to Wi-Fi anymore

After coming back from a ride, my Edge 850 said it couldn't connect to Wi-Fi.

I removed the network and re-added it via the Connect app, but it simply wouldn't connect. I then tried adding it through the Garmin express app, but it still won't connect.

I decided to reset the device and went through the setup process again. I finally managed to connect it to my Wi-Fi (test connection said it connected successfully)

The following day, it stopped connecting to Wi-Fi again!

I have a dedicated IoT network for 2.4Ghz devices, it won't connect to that either. I've tried via the device, via the Connect app, and the Garmin express app, still the same result.

I'm absolutely fed up of the 850 now.

How can a device of this expense behave so poorly with Wi-Fi networks?

I have exceptionally cheap Wi-Fi devices that don't suffer with these issues; it's simply not acceptable.

Incorrect cadence in Garmin Connect

My Garmin 850 reports incorrect cadence data after I upload a workout to Garmin Connect; it consistently shows a value 7–12 rpm lower than what appears in Strava and Intervals. Those latter two analysis platforms show the same RPM. I never had issues with the 830 model, but I noticed this bug after switching to the 850. I use a Sigeyi DLS power meter. To reiterate: there were no issues with the 830!
