"saving diagnostics" boot loop after map update 2026.10

Question

Hello, 
 Yesterday, Garmin Express said there is an update for the map (topoactive 2026.10) which I installed to the Edge (and FR970). 
 Today I wanted to load a route and it crashed. Since then it's stuck in a boot loop (GARMIN - Saving Diagnostics, each page maybe 2sec). By holding the power button I can shut it down, but when powering it back up it's stuck again in the boot loop. Connecting it to the PC with GE doesn't work either. 
 Since I have no other idea, I'll let the battery drain - fingers crossed.

Here we go, an update to this situation: 
 I was in contact with the (german) support via chat. They are obviously aware of this issue and suggested trying the hold-LAP-30sec-approach and see if it connects, described here: RE: "saving diagnostics" boot loop after map update 2026.10 
 Since this might be a solution for devices on 31.xx beta, probably all devices with 30.18/stable might be out of luck and are not recoverable at this point in time. 
 They offered me a refurbished device to swap (my warranty had expired), which I accepted as the only possible solution. This is probably appropriate to deal with it, but I really hope the refurbished unit is in good condition. (I always had a screen protector and a silicon case on) 
 To all of you who are still covered by warranty, I cross fingers that they offer you new Edge's... just reach out to the support, as this is handled on a case-by-case basis.
