You could monitor the beta versions or even better sign up to get beta versions then you would be among the first to know when a new version was on the way and you could have input to improve them before release
With such a high number of bugs, the new version's designation is far too small. But joking aside, I'm shocked by the new 840. They managed to break even what worked flawlessly for years on the 830. ALL the new features come with bugs; there's not a single functional mechanism left, even considering that some were available on the 1040 for over a year.
As a result, the bike computer needs to be rebooted before EVERY ride, just to make it work somewhat reliably. Just a spit in the face from Garmin.
