Garmin has to know about this. They ain’t talkin’. Could this be a fix for a security vulnerability?
There must be either a timeout on the download or a 10 kb size limit. I lean toward the size limit because that is consistent on different WiFi connections. I am able to link my phone and have courses download through Bluetooth to device. Those courses must be getting to my phone via WiFi no?

RWGPS Pinned Courses file size over 10Kb (12Kb or larger for example) Fail to download over WiFi to both my 2 830's or my 530.

Problem started about 8 mo. ago. Not specific to my WiFi, same anywhere, Uploads work fine. USB cable Sync works fine.

If I pair my iPhone to Edge device via Bluetooth any size course downloads.

Short unique course names, also only 4 or 5 routes loaded on device.

So, I see problem is with device WiFi Firmware. Yes? No?

Tried all master resets, etc., Reinstalled all software, used a different PC, deleted GARMIN folder on device, let firmware rebuild file structure, Same issue on 2 different 830's and my 530.

Consistently, Courses with file size under 10Kb download perfectly, No issues at all. Larger files stay in Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Queue.

Garmin Support no help.

Edge 830 Slow Start

My Edge 830 takes 1 minute 30 seconds to start, stuck on the 'Loading courses, workouts and locations..... for all of that time. I have deleted 'New' files and done a full reset, no difference. Anything else I can try?

Have you also deleted courses and workouts or just reinstalled the map. Reinstall the maps did not help for me.

Yep I totally agree. one thing that would be nice would be to "open" the code so any skilled developer could work on this

Hi everyone,

I noticed that the new Bosch eBike integration is currently only available for newer devices like the Edge 840.

I’m using an Edge 830, which still works perfectly and is still a very capable device. From a technical perspective, it feels like it should be able to support this feature as well.

Are there any known technical limitations, or is there a chance this could be added in the future?

I think extending support to the Edge 830 would be great in terms of sustainability and long-term customer satisfaction.

Would anyone else like to see this?

I think the problem is at the server end rather than with the device firmware. I'm having the same problem with an Edge 530 and they haven't released new firmware for that since 2023. Course downloads used to work fine over wifi then suddenly stopped. I can confirm that a small (~2KB) course works fine but anything of useful size fails.

I started a thread in the 530 forum but it's been locked now.

I purchased an Edge 830 replacement screen, but after installation, some areas of the touchscreen were unresponsive. I eventually received a refund, but to avoid wasting time on the same issue in future orders, I would like to clarify whether there are different versions of the Edge 830 screen, or whether the compatibility issue could be related to different hardware versions of my Edge 830 device.

Could you please let me know if there are any differences between Edge 830 screen versions, such as the touch panel, connector, or hardware revision? This would help me make sure I order the correct screen in the future.

Garmin does not offer individual screen replacements for the Edge 830, nor do we recommend replacing the screen for these devices. Doing so can affect the device's intended operation, compromise its water resistance rating, and void any remaining warranty coverage. We are also unable to provide any details regarding display components as that information is proprietary.

Having the same problem now. So I will also try to reinstall the maps.

What would cause the average respiration rate to make a huge jump (28.3 -> 35.1)

I've examined the fit files for my rides over a 14-month period (Nov 2024 - Dec 2026) and my average respiration rate for each ride the first 8 months averages 28.3 breaths per minute. Suddenly in June my respiration rate starts averaging 35.1! I'm using the same Edge 830, same Garmin Dual-HRM and strap, riding the same bike and doing pretty much the same local routes and distances. On 6/27/2025 my average RespRate was 29.2. The very next day my average RespRate was 35.8 and has never dropped below 31 since then. If there was some kind of physiological change, I would not expect it to change overnight. Was there a software change that took place during this time that could trigger this type of change? Any other suggestions?

Where can I found documentation how to opt-out and downgrade back to the stable firmware.

Thanks for trying. I presume a factory reset also takes the Garmin device back to an even earlier firmware - has anyone tried this - if so did it have an effect?

If even a factory reset to earlier firmware does not solve the problem then does this imply the problem may be with Garmin Connect and/or Garmin Express?

If so, then that should be easier for Garmin to fix? And not possible for users to sort?

Good News: I found older versions of software through Garmin Forum.
These upgrade/downgrade just like Garmin Automotive devices.
the software file is named GUPDATE.GCD (whatever device or version), place that file in the root directory of the ‘Garmin’ folder on the device. Using usb cable PC to Garmin device in File Explorer.

it will start the update process when device is disconnected and powered up.

Bad News: I Installed v 7.10 that did nothing to solve ‘Download Failed’.
same thing, fit files smaller than 10k download perfectly via WiFi. No phone. Larger: Download Failed.

AND you are constantly reminded to upgrade to the latest software. I am on 9.81 now and still have same issue.
sorry, must be some other setting.

How many files are in the course and workout folders? Have you emptied them completely? How many previous activities are on the unit? Try clearing out that folder as getting too may files in there causes issues.

Same test : short file (1.5 kb) succesfully downloaded over wifi on my 830. Back to the old version of software ? How ?
