RWGPS Pinned Courses file size over 10Kb (12Kb or larger for example) Fail to download over WiFi to both my 2 830's or my 530.

Problem started about 8 mo. ago. Not specific to my WiFi, same anywhere, Uploads work fine. USB cable Sync works fine.

If I pair my iPhone to Edge device via Bluetooth any size course downloads.

Short unique course names, also only 4 or 5 routes loaded on device.

So, I see problem is with device WiFi Firmware. Yes? No?

Tried all master resets, etc., Reinstalled all software, used a different PC, deleted GARMIN folder on device, let firmware rebuild file structure, Same issue on 2 different 830's and my 530.

Consistently, Courses with file size under 10Kb download perfectly, No issues at all. Larger files stay in Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Queue.

Garmin Support no help.

Barometric sensor failure in Edge 820

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for some advice or to see if anyone else has run into this. My Garmin Edge 820 recently developed a major issue where the elevation data drifts wildly and erratically during standard rides. After troubleshooting everything—including deep cleaning the rear sensor ports, testing without a protective silicone case, —the barometric altimeter is still completely broken.

The unit is only two years old and has been meticulously cared for. Given the premium nature of Garmin cycling computers, a total hardware failure after just 24 months of standard use is incredibly disappointing.

I contacted Garmin Support, and because it is past the 1-year mark, they offered an Edge 830 (refurbished) upgrade replacement for $160. While I appreciate the upgrade path, $160 feels quite steep for a unit that suffered a premature internal failure so early in its expected lifespan. I am a heavily invested Garmin user (I also use a Fenix 6 and have stuck with Edge units for years), so I expected a bit more long-term durability.

Has anyone else ran into this problem with their Edge 820 and have come out as disappointed as I am?

Clearing Out Power Curve Numbers

Hi, I’m unable to figure out how to clear my power curve records. Now that I’m older and don’t ride as much, my power output isn’t as high as 5-10 years ago so I’m chasing unrealistic numbers. Just want to wipe out my current numbers and start from scratch. Any advice is appreciated!

I make routes on Garmin connect.com. (Mac) There is see the amount of climbs I have and so on. When I transfer it then from the app (iPhone) to my Edge 830 the climbs don't show anyone and so neither the climb function pops up. I have some routes that I imported from others and then it works perfectly! So not sure where the problem is in this case. Anyone had the same?

Hi everyone,

My Garmin Edge 830 froze during today's ride. On Garmin Connect it only shows the first 7 km (that was what I was seeing for the whole ride....), but the total ride was 85 km.

I really need to recover the full file because I don't want to lose my power meter data (watts) and performance metrics.

Could anyone please help me fix it and close the file properly?

Bosch eBike integration for Edge 830?

Hi everyone,

I noticed that the new Bosch eBike integration is currently only available for newer devices like the Edge 840.

I’m using an Edge 830, which still works perfectly and is still a very capable device. From a technical perspective, it feels like it should be able to support this feature as well.

Are there any known technical limitations, or is there a chance this could be added in the future?

I think extending support to the Edge 830 would be great in terms of sustainability and long-term customer satisfaction.

Would anyone else like to see this?

Garmin Edge 830 turns off the second it pairs to my phone

So, initially I had the same issue other people have been describing here, that is that my Garmin got stuck in a boot loop after I send a new route to my device. I then most often "fixed" it by pressing the loop button during it turning on again. This has worked for like a week now but I got pretty annoyed by this already as it didn't seem as if there was some clear pattern to this.

Anyhow I then opted to hard reset my Garmin after this has been an ongoing issue for some time but now my Garmin won't pair / connect to my phone anymore at all. To be precise my Garmin "pairs" with the Connect App but the second everything is "set up" it crashes instantly, reboots, and some kind of ghost bluetooth connection remains that both my Garmin and Connect App acknowledge visually but not when it comes to actually being connected or sending data from A to B. I did all common steps, removing the device, forgetting the bluetooth connection, clearing the cache, rebooting both systems, the phone and garmin, tried all of this like 4 times, no changes. I feel as if this is an error I only encountered now with the new app update and it freaking sucks - I literally only want and need my garmin to navigate me from A to B on long rides, but right now it can't even handle that, which is very annoying tbh.

Please fix this as fast as possible, I really want this thing to work again and it is obviously some weird software issue.

Otherwise I'm obivously also happy about any community fixes.

I know this has been raised a number of times - never seen it myself until my last 2 rides. An event allowed me to download the route from Ride GPS ( GPX file) - all good and saved to my Garmin. However on the day , pressed ride and got the message above. Tried changing seeting on navigation ie turn off popularity etc - no avail . It is a routable map - I can see it ride GPS - so annoying

When I put a UK search location into my device it crashes. My maps are up to date. This is usually a railway station, not always close by. I go to POI - Transportation or Ground transportation and use the keypad to put in the place name. I've tried both with and without adding 'Railway'

I get a short spinning symbol, the the screen goes dark and my device restarts.

Predefined replies to WhatsApp or texts from Edge 830 not working

This had been working fine for years on my Edge 830 and previously also on an Edge 530 that I used to own. Whenever I would get a WhatsApp message, the notification would show up on the Edge and it would give me the option to dismiss it, or to reply, and then I could select one of the predefined replies from the list, for example " Out riding " and send it.

And all of a sudden this has stopped working a few days ago. It just shows the notification but it no longer gives me the option to reply.

I have an Android phone.

Is anybody else experiencing this?

ETA to Dest, this is simple math, why is it wrong

Out riding yesterday I was curious what time I'd get home so I checked this page. I know ETA to Dest is useless but I was taken aback by how wrong this is. Basic math, 14.2 miles divided by 12.9 mph (average speed) gives just over an hour (1 hour, 6 minutes). It was 4pm at the time so the ETA should be 5 something. Why even pretend to have data fields if you can't be bothered to get them right and besides, what could the formula possibly be that is so off.

Later, when I was close to the end, it was kind of accurate. Not at all useful because with 1/2 a mile to go I don't really care but it seems someone tried to be clever here but whatever they did just isn't working.

This is the current software release, 9.75. This has been going on for years Why can't this be fixed. Just set the calculation to distance remaining divided by average speed and if average speed is zero, set it to --- or something so smoke doesn't come out the sides when you divide by zero.

If you need some help with this, maybe you can use code like this

SRAM XPLR 13 speed support

Hi Garmin,

My Edge 830 won't support 13 speeds (SRAM XPLR). Can you please fix this problem with a firmware update?

The device works perfectly fine so I was not planning to switch to a newer model, just because of the software. It is a lot of money and also not environmental friendly to throw away a device because of no support for newer drivetrains.

how do I fix Garmin sensors only showing up on one profile on a Garmin 830 and not all profiles on the Garmin 830

I have two bikes. A Roubaix and an Aethos2. I renamed one profile Roubaix and I renamed another profile as Aethos. I have separate speed and cadence sensors for each bikes. All sensors have been added. Unfortunately, the sensors on either bike only activate when in the Roubaix profile. They do not activate in any other profile. I understand the 830 has a sensor pool and each profile SHOULD pull from that pool. At present only one profile is pulling from that pool when I start riding. How do I fix it so every profile pulls from the sensor pool?

Edge 830 won't power off

Yesterday I charged the Edge to 100% at work. I came home from a 10km ride, saved the ride, hit the power button, but then this morning found it was down to 2% charge. Plugged it in to the charger and it says its charging, but on unplugging an hour later it will not turn off and still says 2% charge. If I hold down the power button it goes to the "send message to emergency contacts". Won't charge and won't turn off

Display shows 0:03 flashing message

I was doing a session on the indoor trainer and I used the Edge to set a fixed resistance at 20%

When I started the timer the image below started flashing regularly on the display, making it almost impossible to see the numbers related to Power, heart rate, etc...

With the same trainer and the same activity profile, I follow schedules generated in Training Peaks without any problem.

The digits on the display don't change, always 0:03

Any idea how to fix it?

Garmin Edge 830 stuck in a boot loop

Following a bike ride the other weekend the screen froze on my Garmin Edge 830. I was only able to turn it off after holding the off button for about 10 seconds. After that, the device has been stuck in a boot loop. I've managed to get it connect to a computer by holding the the lap button and connecting, and have deleted any files which could be causing the issue. However, even after that the device is stuck in a boot loop when I try turning it on. I've tried contacting Garmin a week ago but they have not yet offered any further solutions. Does anyone know what else I can try to resolve the problem? Many thanks

Basic Setup, two displays

Garmin 830 bicycle computer

We are having a difficult time navigating through the setup procedure. The goal is to add a couple of data screens. We don’t race or compete, just want to monitor how we do over the days and months. We have the manual, but obviously are not reading it correctly.

First Questions: If the map is displayed, how many data fields, such as heart rate can be displayed? With no map, how many fields can be displayed?

The first setup is for a level ride. The options desired, displayed left to right then top to bottom:

Heart Rate, Cadence, Speed, Distance. Map would be nice.

Second setup is for climbs. We live in hilly San Diego and need a screen for that.

Need heart rate, cadence, slope, map. Depending on how many data fields we can get, add distance and speed.

We considered showing a bunch of screens that we got to, but that becomes too much. Please walk us through the first setup and we can probably figure out the second one.

Edge 830 reverse course work-around

An answer on Reverse Course on device? NO?? (which is locked and cannot be answered, unfortunately) :

Reversing a course for full navigation is not possible, however what saved me yesterday on the road, and worked well for me was following on the device
- open the course you want to reverse
- go to Settings of the particular course
- set the course to 'Show always on map'
- select a color that gives good contrast, like red

Now there is a line on the map, that is easy to follow for the ride back to the starting point.

Garmin Edge 830 Stop workout Issue

When I finished my workout and tried to stop the course by pressing the bottom button, the activity did not stop. I had to force-restart the device, after which the workout summary page finally appeared.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? If so, how did you fix it? I’m frustrated that I have to force-restart the device every time I try to save a workout at the end.

Edge 830 set intervals fail and bug

Hello!

I would say "intervals" feature on Edge 830 (with latest SW 9.75) has BUG.
When you are in an active indoor cycling training with the 830 and with ZWIFT HUB smart trainer (without ZWIFT app),
you set a target power like 150watt works okay,
but if you want to start an intervals and edit/modify the data via "edit", then when you press "Do workout" it starts the previously SET intervals not the one you entered. That is lost, never see that again.

Reporduction

Start indoor cycling training on 830
830 is connected to smart trainer
set target power
edge 830 starts to set that power on smart trainer, goes okay
go back to Training menu without pausing the activity
go "intervals" -> edit
Edit your intervals data with new watts, durations, repeat, etc
then go back and press "Do workout"
Workout starts, but
BUG: it starts the interval BUT with previously SAVED data, newly entered DATA has been gone, you never see it again
you need to stop the started interval etc...

Definetly an UX BUG

Garmin, please FIX it!!!! very annoying as you cannot use this feature and totally screws up your training.

Cycling/TopoMaps AU/NZ no longer on Edge 830, cant find a way to re-install

Have been doing a lot of indoor training for several months, and then went to do an outdoor cycle but found I only have the Base DEM map, and no others.

I see there is a note on the Garmin website that as of May 2025 Cycling maps are no longer in use and its now been integrated into the ToppMaps, but I dont have either.

When I use Garmin Express on the PC it only gives me an option to re-install Trail Forks, no other options.

Is there another way to get the TopoMaps onto the device?

Isue: the touch screen does not work

I started an activity last week, the device performed a strange reboot. When I restarted, the touchscreen stopped working. after the activity I've tried everything from a factory reset to updating the software to 9.81 with Garmin Express, contact with garmin service center and nothing... :-(

The device is perfect without bumps or scratches, the service center solution is to buy a new one ...

I would greatly appreciate any help
