Do you need a map MicroSD chip for the Edge 810?

My Edge 800 was stolen, and so was the Maps MicroSD chip inside of it. My question is, is it even necessary to have a amps chip in the unit? I know the manual says to use a chip for data storage, but what about maps?

The internal memory isn’t large enough for maps. You really need a card for the 810.

Of course, you also need a map.

I figured. I downloaded the Garmin maps and loaded them onto a $7 MicroSD chip I bought from Best Buy on sale. It's all good.
