Edge 820 maps missing town names

Edge 820, v11.20
Why are town names missing from the navigation map? My tiny village is there but not the town down the road. Have experimented with other towns and found that the map is riddled with town name omissions even though street names within the towns are there.

It's probably just what has been entered into the map data.

Can you point to a place in questions and i can take a look?

Alternatively, if you feel inclined and motivated, head over to openstreetmap.org and check out the guidelines for how to edit the map yourself. Garmin don't compile their maps that often (maybe twice a year) but they are based on the raw data from OSM. If you want up to date maps check out the following sites

Yes I agre that it must be missing from map data but that's no good if you are out somewhere and need to know this information

Just a couple of examples that I've found

Carhampton in the TA24 postcode area of the UK

NOTE luxborough, Hungerford Withycombe etc ARE there, much tinier places

Bampton a bit further south is missing

They do not show up either, on a Garmin Edge search of nearby places either. So it's a lottery whether you'll find or not find a town just down the road.
