Dear Garmin,

At 66 years olld i know myslef better than my new edge540 ever will. I thought i bought a bike comouter not a cheerleader. Maybe millenials like that crap but i HATE it. I have no problem with you including it (other than it raisss the price too high) but at least let me turn all the garbage bloatware off. Im a paying customer shouldn't i have that choice? I do not need pointless praise for a pr on a short easy recovery ride. I do not need my heat acclimation tracked. I do not need my recovery time monitored. All i need is to track my rides. And on that note i should need 8+ button presses to delete a ride. When the ride ends and you show the green save how about a red delete? Seriously you've lost the basic computer idea. >xll make sure i never look at a 550 god know what crap lurks in that one.

100% agree. It’s no longer about making a solid bike computer, but following the smartphone playbook: forcing people to buy a new one every year by stuffing it with useless gimmicks.

I am experiencing a battery percentage display bug on my Edge 540 running software version 31.33.

Issue Description: After charging the device to 100%, the battery percentage indicator remains stuck at 100% during use. It does not drop as the battery drains.
Workaround: The only way to see the actual/correct battery level is to restart the device.
Firmware Version: 31.33
Device: Edge 540

Hi all, this should be resolved with the current public beta software (version 31.63), so we recommend updating to the beta. Alternatively, since the fix is in the beta, it should be coming to the next full software release for the 540. Thanks for the reports and discussion!

Same problem here, most recently my device displayed 100% charge over multiple rides totaling more than 15hrs worth of riding. When it got to 9% it finally displayed the accurate charge level. Haven't tried doing a complete power cycle yet, I usually just put my device to sleep in between rides.

What was the date of the last ride where this occurred? - Constantly, for the last 6 weeks or so

Are you seeing the control panel or the data screen showing incorrect/static Battery %? Both? - Both

Garmin Edge 540 doesn't calculate Body Battery. I understand HRV is needed for you current calculations, but why you cannot implement an estimation in the Body Battery only by activity heart rate?

Same here. After standby I experienced stucked battery percentage more times, but now after a 14hrs long ride it showed 100%. I make full charge only every 1-2months, and before ride. (I use the Edge onky fir navigation, 1-3 times a month. )

Today my Garmin 540 recorded 0 feet altitude gain on my ride and I didn’t do my whole ride at sea level!

My Garmin Fenix watch recorded 2,100 feet. There is always a little bit of difference between my watch and bike computer but it has never recorded o before.

As I am going on a mtb trip (Norway & Sweden) next weekend I bit the built and bought a new one.

I wasn’t looking forward to going through the rigmarole of setting it up but was pleasantly surprised when it did it all using the settings on my “broken” one

However, when I tried it it doesn’t record ascent or descent. Therefore I am guessing I accidentally altered a setting on my old one hence it not working and the new one has that same altered setting. Any suggestions what I might have altered and how to “unalter”?

The same thing happened with my 540 today. The elevation shows 0; it was working fine yesterday. Unfortunately, there are constant issues with Garmin software. I have a Descent MK3i and an Edge 540.

plug it into coumpter, go to Garmin - RemoteSW folder and check what is here (only CPE(s).BIN or any 006******* .BIN file/s/ also? ) delete all files here, unmount the device, then sync via BT or wifi and lets see the unit will download and install the missing gnss firmware or not . if not, i have an older .BIN file saved, so if you will save it to the RemoteSW folder manually, then that old one will be installed and after the new one will be downloaded and installed automatically (i hope). let me know if you need something .

Description

My Garmin edge does not connect to GPS it connects everything else (heart rate, power meter, radar). I have tried multiple times to restart, reset the device, give it quite a while of time for starting and I have had to do about three or four rides without the map or distance or speed tracking.

with 16.01 it should work (the 0.00 means no software in the gnss chip which acting similar what you wrote as symptoms)

Continuous Scrolling Issue (Ghost Press) - Garmin Edge 540

The device has developed an issue where the screen continuously scrolls down on its own, behaving as if the "Down" button (bottom left) is being held down indefinitely.

Mechanically, the button feels fine and clicks perfectly normal; it is not physically stuck. I suspect this is a software glitch or an internal contact issue (ghost press). I have already tried thoroughly cleaning the button with warm water and performing a hard restart, but the looping behavior persists, making the device unusable.

Please let me know the next steps for troubleshooting this issue or how to proceed with a warranty repair or replacement.

My Garmin Edge 540 Solar is not recording elevation and altitude correctly. I have the latest firmware installed. When I ride along the sea, it sometimes shows an altitude of -100 meters. If I calibrate the device via GPS, it shows the correct height, but a few minutes later it becomes incorrect again. I have already reset the device, and I have cleaned the barometer port holes, but it still does not work. Is it possible to fix this, or is there a way to force the device to always read elevation via GPS instead?"
