My activity is not displayed properly and not uploading to garmin connect from my edge 530.

This week I raced a hill climb - 30 minutes of maximal effort, wearing a heart rate monitor - but my Edge 530 did not record my heart rate so it assigned a training load of only 8. As a result, my training plan is now screwed up because it thinks I took a rest day instead of going all out like I did. At a minimum, I would like to manually enter a more realistic training load score (including anerobic, high aerobic, and low aerobic values, which I can guess from my previous efforts on the hill climb) so my training plan remains useful. Even better would be if the Edge 530 could calculate a realistic training load from my power data, which it did record. How do I do this?

Try using FIT File Tools to edit the activity & add HR data, or use an old activity that you think had the same effort.

Just change the date / time of the new file.

Once you have the adjusted file downloaded, delete the bad file from GC.

Then upload the new file & you should be good.

I had to do this recently when my power meter did not connect during a ride.

I used a previous ride of the same route with same effort.

Recently my Edge 530 has become unable to download courses over wifi. However uploading completed activities and downloading custom workouts works correctly so it's not a general connectivity problem. I should mention that I'm only able to use wifi (I don't have a smart phone).

I've tried removing all courses from the device but that didn't help. The only way I'm able to transfer courses currently is by connecting to a PC via USB.

Is it possible that there's a corrupt course stuck in the queue somewhere? Something else perhaps? What can I do to fix this?

Have you tried rebooting the device after sending the courses?

As a test, I tried a sending a course from Connect over WiFi and it initially gave an error “download failed”, but the course appeared after rebooting the Edge.

I hav same problem with my 1050. I have version 30.18, updated today May 9 2026. Before the ride I deleted my wifi connection and reconnected, all working fine. After I return from a ride the WiFi indicator is flashing, so no upload. After I power cycled it, WiFi connected ( full strength signal indicated as expected ) and the ride uploaded.

In the last few weeks, my Garmin Edge 530 fails to upload rides over wifi connection directly from device. It worked fine about a month ago.

Nothing has changed. Same wifi, same device.

I can only sync now if I connect to my phone. If I disconnect from my phone, it seems to work, but then I lose other phone connected features such as alerts, bike alarm and collision alerts

Performance Notifications cannot be turned off?

Garmin, in this forum, says that Performance Notifications can be turned off. All switches are in the off position now (Performance Condition, New VO2 Max, and Training Effect) But at the end of every ride I still get a screen labeled Training Status with a graph below. This really isn't helpful at all in that many of my rides are in town with lots of stop/start. I would like to disable this screen, but it appears that that isn't possible. Am I wrong on this? Thanks

I have tried all of that. The ride will not upload if I select "Upload Ride" from the end of ride menu.
But if I go to settings / connected settings / WiFi and select "Sync Now" it works fine.
I even have "Auto Upload" set to on, but it still doesn't save from the end ride menu.

Yesterday, there are 2 candidate of cause.

I drop down EDGE530 onto woody floor from just 1 feet above.

And update software to 9.8

This morning, start botton dosen't work.

I tried ”Force quit”, but still start botton dosen't work.

Could you advise how to fix ?

I’ve not tried, but I don’t think on-device editing is possible. If you’ve only got the FIT file you will need to copy it to your PC and edit using a hex editor such as HxD. I’ve tested it on a file and it is straightforward, as long as only existing characters are changed. Do not add or remove characters as it will corrupt the file. After editing send it back to the Edge as a new file.

I "successfully" changed the course names I needed to with the pc, but when I fired up the 530 all of the old course names were still there. When I reconnect the 530 to the pc the old file names are there as well. Can I really not change the course/route names from the pc or did I do something wrong?

PeterK_55 Thanks. Yes, you're assumption is correct, just tried changing the file name in Windows. Next sanity check... If I go to edit the name on the 530 itself I can't find a way to just delete individual characters. There isn't any arrow to move between the characters and the backspace key deletes the whole string, not just the last character. Am I missing anything here? Just aggravating that I have to retype the whole thing when I just want a minor edit of the existing name.

The course name is embedded inside the file, so changing the filename, which I assume you’re doing, will have no effect. TCX and GPX files can be edited with a text file editor, but FIT would require a hex file editor or some other tool.

Limit the name length to 15 characters and no spaces or special characters.

Inderdaad zou Garmin een software--aanpassing kunnen doen: "kies voor de kortste weg naar de track ja/nee". Dit kan toch niet zo moeilijk zijn?

Ik heb al vele tientallen kilometers verloren wegens gebrek aan deze keuze. (Vooral tijdens fietsreizen in het buitenland of ver van huis)

Helaas is dit normaal, Garmin navigatie gaat op een of ander manier altijd terug naar het vorige waypoint, wanneer je de route niet volgt, in plaats van naar het volgend waypoint te gaan. Dit gebeurt ook wanneer je bijvoorbeeld een omleiding volgt, wanneer je weer bij je route komt kiest garmin voor het waypoint in de originele route dat terug ligt in de route ten opzichte van waar je bent in plaats van het volgende waypoint te kiezen. Als je een beetje weet waar je bent dan kan je "verder" fietsen en pakt Garmin het vervolgens weer goed op, maar als je niet zo goed bekent bent met de route/omgeving dan maakt je helaas extra (kilo)meters omdat je dan eerst terug en dan weer verder fietst.

Ik hoop nog altijd dat er een keer een keuze komt tijdens het navigeren, dat als je de route verlaat en daarna weer terug komt op de route, dat garmin dan vraagt. Vorige waypoint of Volgend waypoint? Zou het een stuk makkelijker maken.

Ok, thanks for the additional clarification. It's been well over a year since I bothered with GC for routes so my memory is foggy.

I did not suppose I could say anything new to the matter annoyance of VP, but as a sort of coincidence I observed that all the simplification of courses that I had mentioned earlier in the thread linked must have been the consequence of setting a VP speed OVER an embedded real maximum.

I mean when I set 999 km/h as VP speed and I saw a simplified course omitting some necessary course elements I thought that Edge omitted everything where a distance between two turns of the course were covered for LESS THAN 1 second by the very fast VP.

Since that post of mine I used 99 km/h as VP speed.

Yesterday I had a long ride and I decided to try 999 km/h again for a course (prepared not on Edge, but in GC). On Edge I saw that the actual VP speed was less than 100 km/h.

After some testing I figured out that the real max VP speed is 235 km/h (as round number, the real max is something 235.9285714286 km/h), because above it there is an overflow. So setting 236 km/h results in 0.1 km/h. Setting 237 km/ will be 1.1 km/h etc.

Since I had never used VP screen at all, I tested it, too, just to see what else it gave as option to get rid off VP. I realized that you could reset VP if the screen was added with a menu item. Great :-), it has just the opposite effect, VP will be again around me. :-)

I found another menu item with which one can change the VP speed on Edge, but it works only when navigating with not (preloaded courses), but routes created by Edge. Alas.

Edge 530 downgrade firmware

Hello,

my old Edge 530 is not stable with the latest FW version 9.75. All of the sensors are dropping out.

As it is mentioned many times, in many threads.

I also tried the latest beta version 9.79 but nothing changed:

So, my question is - does anybody have the older version of FW? Like e.g. 9.10 for Europe version Edge 530 (Czech Republic).
