Garmin 520 - Cannot Unlock Maps

Hi ... i recently had to do a factory reset on my Edge 520 (because it just decided it needed it apparently).

After this reset the "cannot unlock maps" message now comes up during the power on process.

Can anyone advise what is going on here?  I have no real need/use of the map feature; although I do use segments sometimes.  I am pretty sure I just used the standard map provided on the unit.

I currently have "gmapbmp.img" and "gmpatz.img" showing up in the unit storage.  

Any advice would be great.

    Perhaps try a soft reset by holding the power button down for 10 sec or so and then connect to Garmin Express to sync.

    gmapbmp.img is the map file and the standard Garmin basemap is rather useless. A better option would be to replace it by downloading one (latin1 variants, not UTF-8) from bbbike.org for your local area, keeping in mind that the file size is limited by storage space on a 520.

    gmaptz.img is related to timezones.
