Has anyone successfully connected 520 Plus to M1 MacBook Pro?

The device connects fine on my old MacBook Air - connects fine, mounts as drive, synchronises and can be put into disk mode. Plugging into new MacBook Pro with the same cable via the Apple USB-C to USB dongle (which works for USB Memory Drives and similar) and the Garmin detects the power and turns on but isn't being recognised as a drive.

I thought it should mount as a drive even without Garmin Express loaded. I have tried reinstalling Garmin Express and different cables but to no effect. There is a mention on some blogs that I need to ensure Express has access to Files and Folders and have ensured it has Full Disk Access.

Garmin 520 Plus has the latest firmware and is otherwise fine.

Any suggestions?

No - same issue as yours. I have found though that with the Garmin IQ app I can send from my iPhone Ride with GPS routes to a Garmin 520+ which deal effectively with what I wanted to do see: https://ridewithgps.com/help/iq/

I have the same problem when using the Apple USB-C to USB-A dongle, but everything works fine using a StarTech USB-C to USB-A hub.

Same MacBook Pro, same Edge 520 Plus (and every other Garmin I own), same cables, etc. I have ordered a couple of other simple converters (Amazon Basics and Anker) and will post results when they arrive.

This suggestion worked for me with an M1 Macbook Pro. Basically, make sure your USB cable supports data.
