Mac OS Big Sur will not recognize Edge 520 plus. I have tried the specific Garmin cable and the workarounds for some of the other OS's but to no avail. Any ideas?

I have tried the Garmin specific cable and the workarounds listed for other Mac OS's, but Big Sur will not recognize the Edge 520 plus as a demountable disk or volume Checking the USB connection in hardware shows not disk recognized on the USB-C port.

Big Sur/Garmin Express recognizes my Varia RTL510, but not my Edge 520 plus.

My Macbook Pro (M1 Apple Silicon, Big Sur) can recognize my 520 plus, but my wife's Macbook Air (M1, Big Sur) will not. The Air will charge the device, the 520 plus does not appear in the finder or disc utility.

Were you able to resolve your issue? I've tried other cables, Ram resets, and working with Apple support, but no luck.

No, still haven't resolved issue. I have simply given up and starting using my phone to connect to Garmin Connect via Bluetooth.

In the General Settings of Garmin Express do you have Garmin Express set to Automatically Launch when a device is connected?

I have the Mac Air (M1, Big Sur) and I have the same issues as you have. The 520 is not recognized in the Finder or Disc Utility or the USB-C page in System Information. Changed cables, used Garmin cable, removed all GE software as per Garmin. Nothing works. Went to Bluetooth on phone to use Garmin Connect.

Hi!

i think i get what is main issue there. Its usb2 vs usb3 on newer Macs.

i have same problem with my macbook air m1 + edge 520 plus. Just charging, mac not recognize device. i was using dongle and garmin micro-usb to usb cable and also tried two other cables.

Then i was tried old usb2 hub between dongle and garmin cable. Works like chapm at first atempt.

So, i recomend usb2.0 specificaly cable or dongle

Thanks! I used the oldest USB hub I could find to connect to my M1 MBA, and this worked. Seems like the backwards compatibility with USB 2.0 is not on point.
