My 520 hangs at the "loading profile" stage of booting and if I try to connect it to a PC it immediately turns off. Any way to recover it?

So, my Edge wasn't recognizing my heart strap, so I restarted it but, when I did, it got as far as "loading profiles" and just sat there.

I've tried doing a basic reset (hold the power button until it restarts) but it has no effect. I've tried doing a master reset (holding down the lap and start/stop buttons while booting) but you're supposed to hold those down until the garmin logo clears and it never clears - and if I let the buttons go, it just boots normally and, again, sits at the "loading profiles" screen.

I've also tried booting into storage mode, both by plugging into a PC and by holding down the lap button during power on - either way, the garmin starts then immediately turns off again.

Anything I can do to recover this thing? I've had it less than 2 years.
