Just happened to mine. Less than three years old. Not happy
Yup. Pin is toast. No charging, no upload. 520
It happened to my 520 (is was a few years old), so I replaced it with a 520+. After 3 months, that USB port failed too. This is heading to class action!!!
It happened to my 520 (is was a few years old), so I replaced it with a 520+. After 3 months, that USB port failed too. Pathetic engineering. No other electronics items that I own have ever had a USB port failure.
I have some electronics soldering skills. I have replaced the USB connector on several 520s myself (including one I have done twice). The details including the connector part number are here: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Garmin+Edge+520+USB+connector+repair/92578
The hardest part is getting the screen off to open up the device. Changing the connector is quite simple if you are OK with soldering and have good equipment (hot air). The cost of the connector is very low and you just need some double sided take to put the screen back on. I used tape strips designed for replacing the screen on an iMac.
Happened to a 500 after 5 years, and a 520 after 4 years. This just shouldn't happen. I just bought a Wahoo bolt.
Same problem here, busted up connector that makes my tablet reboot when I plug the 520 in. Horrible.
Mine too. 520 connector looks like it's crumbling. I plug into my laptop and it forces a reboot. Horrible.
