Edge 520 won't power up at All

Anyone had an issue with the edge 520 not powering/starting up at all. I have had this happen twice now.

The first time happened about two weeks after i brought the device last year in October. It just would not start one day with the display remaining totally blank when pressing the "on" button.

I started emailing Garmin support who had not heard of the issue. After about 5 days I decided to return it to the store i had purchased it from and as a matter of curiosity decided to try the on button again and of course it powered on and started working again.

Yesterday the exact same thing happened with it not turning on. Absolutely dead. Any idea/suggestions as to what to do?

Just had this happen today. I had a software update that didn't seem to go quite right and I thought the unit got bricked by the failed update. I tried the fist solution but that didn't work, the second one did. I plugged it into the PC and the update seemed to get done properly this time. The unit is now running Software Version 13.20

This happened to me today, and the advice below solved the problem (hooray! and thanks to those who provided the advice). But I think it should be stressed that you have to hold the buttons down for a LONG time - I didn't time how long but it must have been at least 10 seconds. The unit's now back to normal, as far as I can tell, and it's now talking to Garmin Express on my iMac, which it wasn't doing prior to that.

Thanks the master reset worked! My 520 is four years old and has been relatively trouble free. No recent software updates. I had to use the master reset a couple of times, but phew, it's working again.

I’ve had my 520 for 5 years and used it daily without issues until yesterday. Just performed master reset and bingo back to life! I was convinced it was the battery but not at all.

This worked for me (Power button + Down button). Like others, this has now happened to me twice. Computer is about 2 years old.

I held all three buttons down at once and that worked great holding all three buttons at the same time thank you
