Garmin Edge 130 not displaying heart rate of third party bluetooth sensor

My Edge 130 pairs ok with the sensor and I can enable it, but there is no heart rate display. The same sensor works with an app on my iPhone. Any suggestion how to solve this?

The picture shows the e130 on a table with the HRM, but what happens if you wear the band and move around? Even the Garmin bands go to sleep after a while if they don't think they are in use.

I just got an Edge 130 from Amazon for $97 on Prime Day. Now I understand why so discounted.

I have the same problem. Polar H7 Bluetooth Smart heart rate monitor. The sensor pairs to the 130 and stays paired, but the 130 only displays "---" for the heart rate. I've tried a lot of troubleshooting (reset 130, update firmware, etc) but nothing works.

Also, the GPS tells me to turn ~200ft past the turn.

Ugh!
