Device no longer powering on

Over the last 2 months I have sent 3 emails and attempted to contact Garmin on social media platforms and haven't heard a single word back from them, so this is my last try. 
My Edge 130 will not power on unless it is connected via cable to a power source. Once connected it powers on as normal, and displays that there is 100% battery remaining. However, the instant I unplug the cable it turns off and will not power back on until I plug the cable back in.

I have read that this is a fault in the product and there is no way to fix it except Garmin helping me/sending a new one. Is this true, or is there a way to fix it I can't find?

It is a very shiny, and expensive paperweight currently.
