I created a REHIT workout but the resistance/grade changes back to 1 on each step. How do i stop this from happening?

Garmin Edge 130 new battery, charging never gets to 100%

Recently I decided to replace the battery of my old trusty Edge 130. It would hold charge for merely 2 hours before giving it up.

I successfully replaced the battery with a higher capacity one, but after 4-5 hours of charging, the charging symbol is still on. In the service menu I see 93-97%, while battery field reports 80%. Which is correct? Is there a problem of the device measuring the charge of the higher capacity battery? How long is it safe to keep it charging to prevent any premature damage to the new battery?

Edge 130 Plus Discontinued?

Was looking at REI to replace my Edge 130 Plus (after five years of daily use), and noticed they no longer carry it. Garmin’s site states “permanently out of stock”, so it looks like the Edge 130 Plus has been discontinued. It is still available on Amazon and other sites, so get one now if you like the small size and B&W screen. Haven’t heard about Garmin introducing a similar-size model, or if they expect users to now get the larger Edge 540 model, which has maps and a color screen.

That magazine has it right. I was using the Edge 800 for touring, but thought it was overkill for local riding. I got the Edge 25 when it came out, and later the Edge 130, as it was still B&W and only a little larger. Garmin is missing a substantial market segment if the company does not have a compact product for users who just want to record their rides and have basic fields displayed while riding.

I notice that a week ago vojomag, the French MTB magazine, published a rather lukewarm review of the Edge MTB, concluding that “one can’t help feeling that Garmin could have gone further, notably in providing a genuine modern replacement for the Edge 130 plus, keenly awaited by riders who want a unit which is small, simple, solid and effective”.

I would be disappointed if that's the case. The Edge 130 Plus is perfect my weekend warrior cycling needs. I currently have one and was considering buying another one to keep as a spare. The larger models such as the Edge 540 will be a total overkill for me. I do not even see the Edge 540 listed anymore, only the Edge 550.

Edge 130 Plus won’t detect KICKR V4 as FE-C trainer (only shows as Power Meter)

I’m trying to get my Garmin Edge 130 Plus (software version 3.00 Sensor Hub 0.06) to control my Wahoo KICKR V4 via ANT+ FE-C, but I can’t get the trainer to show up as an indoor trainer. My Fēnix 7S detects and controls the KICKR perfectly, so the trainer itself is fine.

Here’s what I’ve tried:

• Menu → Indoor Trainer = Always returns “No Indoor Trainer Connection”

• Edge 130 Plus detects the KICKR as a power meter under list of sensors (presumably over ANT+ and BLE) but not as FE-C / Indoor Trainer.

• Tried with Bluetooth disabled on my phone to prevent Bluetooth binding conflicts but that didn't help either

• The KICKR shows ANT+ ID 47274, which should be correct for FE-C.

• Edge displays the trainer as “Wahoo KICKR B8AA” in the Power Meter list, but still does not show it in the Indoor Trainer list.

• Fēnix 7S picks up the FE-C trainer instantly and can control it without issues.

• Power-cycling both devices, resetting connections, and repeating searches didn’t change anything.

Any help or confirmation from Garmin staff or others who use a 130 Plus with a KICKR would be greatly appreciated.

Edge 130 plus update sensors

Is the Edge 130 plus able to update speed sensors and the like?

My speed sensor 2 has firmware version 4.0 and it seems 4.1 has been out for like three years already ;)

If the Edge 130 Plus does not want to update the speed sensor's firmware, try doing it using Garmin Connect.

Method #2: Garmin Connect App

When you pair the sensor to the Garmin Connect app, the app will check for and offer to install a software update. This update will be prompted during the initial pairing process. For help with pairing see: Pairing the Speed Sensor With Your Smartphone.

How to disable the feature/use tour after every minor update

For some reason, every after major or minor update, on next reboot the feature/use tour pops up, like "press = to access the menu", etc. How can I disable that? It is really annoying.

When will Garmin provide a firmware upgrade which allows lap distance adjustment. Having the distance fixed by garmin is an annoyance and forces riders to manually log laps. Given the risks of distracted cycling, I'm surprised the legal department hasn't overridden the marketing boys on this one.

I'm experiencing the very same. IPhone 12 Mini (newest iOS), newest Garmin app version, latest firmware on Edge 130 Plus.

I have removed the device from Garmin app and Paired with the phone again. Nothing changed, I have to download the .fit file and upload directly to Garmin's website... :-( (At least, USB connection works fine for me)

Edit/update @ 11.09.2025: started to sync a few days ago, however, sync got stuck during downloading. Means, the device put a warning saying sync in still progress and I had to choose to wait until sync is finished or switch off. Yesterday, I connected the device to the computer, synced with Garmin Connect (through USB), removed all files from Course and Activity directories and today morning, sync was fast via iPhone+Garmin Connect.

No idea, what could have happened...

My Garmin Edge 130 Plus suddenly stopped transferring ride data with both USB and Bluetooth connection. I did a club ride on Saturday morning and successfully uploaded my ride to Garmin Connect and to Strava. On Sunday morning I went out on a solo ride, but when I got back home, I could not upload the ride by any means. At first, I tried to sync the ride using my iPhone as I usually do after a ride, but after more than 30 minutes I realized the data wasn't being uploaded. I then connected it to my laptop, the Edge started charging, but it did not show up as a USB device.

I tried different USB ports as well as a different computer. I tried various other USB cables, all of them that I know that they are working, but still nothing. I again tried to upload the ride via Bluetooth, this time using a spare iPhone that was recently reset to defaults so I know there should not be any clashes with whatever app. I installed the Garmin Connect app on the phone and then added the Garmin Edge. That means there are Bluetooth communication, but the device simply refuses to transfer the ride.

I then reset the Edge, first the option that just clears the settings, but that did not solve the problem. I then gave the Edge a full reset, clearing everything, erases data and settings. After that I started the GPS, walked around the house, and stopped it. The device itself seems to be working, it's picking up the HRM, locking onto the satellites and indicating the speed. That newly created data also did not want to upload via Bluetooth, and still the device cannot be seen on my computer, but it is being charged whilst connected to the USB port.

I am at my wits end, maybe someone has some other ideas that I can also try? I did go through the steps on the Garmin Edge 130 support page, but it was of no assistance.

dropping GPS connection

Three times in recent days GPS has switched itself off. This has happened while I've been stopped for a short while and turned the device off and only realised after I'd been cycling again a few hundred metres. I don't recall this ever happening in many years of use, and it has happened in places that I've visited before many times. Is something funny happening with the satellites, or is it likely to be a device problem? Edge 130, btw, not Plus.

To be clear. My current 130+ is on its last legs and will be replaced in the near future. I have no need or desire for color, moving maps, advanced course planning or anything else the 130+ doesn't currently provide other than, of course, the ability to set a lap distance. This is hardly an advanced function for a $200 computer and its inclusion is not going to stop me from buying a more expensive model... its simply not going to happen. I'd like to remain a Garmin customer, including for the RV-14 I'm starting, but I'm not convinced Garmin wants to keep me.

Live segments interpretation of + and - signs

Extended display alerts always say "0"?

Extended display is working as expected, connecting my Forerunner 955 to Edge 130 plus. When an alert goes off, like HR or Power min/max, the watch and edge beep as expected but only my watch displays the actual data. The edge's HR and Power alerts always say "0". Is this a software bug or user error? The watch looks right!

Edge 130 always reboots when entering a roundabout. How to fix this?

Had this issue suddenly this year. Last year everything worked without any issues.

When navigating on a komoot created gpx track, on every roundabout, the Edge 130 reboots, leaving me with no directions for a minute, which is extremely annoying on entering roundabouts.

Do somebody know some speculation if there will be an Edge 140 released in the future?

I like the small size of 130, but for me it lacks a color display (amoled or MIP) , full maps and a USB-C connector. So I'm waiting with the buying.
