After restarting your Garmin no messages anymore on GPS Firmware updating? And GPS Version is also still on 16.01 (and never goes to 0.0 anymore)?

My workaround now just is not full powering off but only using Sleep (short press of power button).

I just updated to latest firmware and now the map screen just shows Acquiring Satellites. It shows a GPS firmware update is starting (even though I jus just a firmware update) and a minute later that it is successful. However, the Acquiring Satellites message remains. I power off and power on and the same cycle starts over again. I have seen messages from other users in a Facebook group mentioning the same thing starting 4 days ago.

My Edge 1050 keeps freezing on start up with the message Loader 30.18. I've tried resetting everything as per the online instructions and sometimes it will boot up - but then I can't start an activity as all the buttons freeze. I've cleared the cache and temporary files etc but it's still not working. Can anyone help please?

Interesting. I again spoke with Garmin. They refused to send me a new or refurbished unit. They said since the units are already boxed there is every reason to believe they are similarly infected or will become infected at the first synch. The solution : wait it out with no end in sight.

Worked great prior to update to 30.18. Now almost useless to see what is coming.

A picture is worth a 1000 words. Two pictures worth more..

‘’in each instance I have over 1/2 mile to go but it is showing me lots of “where I have been” (gray) and very little “what’s coming”

a bug? Any way to downgrade to prior version. Ugh!

Same here ClimbPro is basically useless for almost 2 months.

Got a recertified unit back from the support this time. Updated to 31.29 and everything seems to work! It don't find the latest update 31.30, but i think i leave it there. I will start use it and see how it works.

I checked everything and it was already set. A friend told me he had to reload the correct map for our location and I did that.

Problem solved.

Now the question is - "why did a Garmin update take off my correct map and replace it with the wrong one"?

Before the update, everything worked.

My Edge 1050 stopped giving audible prompts for turns on routes. This has worked since I got it new a few years ago but suddenly it no longer works. What should I do?

I did also remove all files in the RemoteSw folder putting my Garmin diskmode and using a windows computer for that. But also did some other stuff, not sure what makes the difference.

Now my procedure is:

1. Start my Garmin by pressing the power button (when it is completely off)

2. After a couple of seconds, sometimes more it will start updating the GPS Firmware.

3. Going to System, about, Copyright info it will show Gps version 0.0

4. usually after about 1min you get the message that the gps firmware has been updated.

5. check again the Copyright info and it will show gps version 16.01

6. Then I press the power button for a second which puts it into sleep

7. After 15-20s I press the power button again and it shows the Garmin logo and it gets back in.

8. Then I walk to my open window and check the Gps signal strength. Then after maybe half a minute, sometimes quicker the signal increases from 1 bar to more bars.

9. I go to the map where it says acquiring sattelites

10. After a few seconds it says Ready To Navigate.

11. I use my Garmin to navigate.

12. After finishing the ride I don’t completely turn it off bit just put it to sleep by a short press of the Power button.

13. When I push the power button again it most of the times quickly finds gps signal again.

14. In some cases it does update the gps firmware again and I do previous steps but normally you will be more lucky this way.

15. If it seems gps version stuck at 0.00 I do fully turn the power off and start the procedure again.

All not ideal but I can at least use it and just turn it on and do the steps before I really go outside with my bike.

but i of course also cannot wait until it stops updating the gps version to 16.01 the whole time …

Please Garmin, help us out, we really have paid enough money for our devices to be able to normally use it …

I did a hard reset. Then updated to 31.30. Nothing but the same problem for me. Will not acquire satellite.

Yep - I had exactly the same with mine. The Garmin software people have made a right balls up. I wish I could offer some advice - but the software update will land eventually.

My Garmin Express is not on 7.28.1.0. It is 7.28.0.0, and when I click "Check for Updates to Express", it then says "You're up to date!". Clearly I am not.

And it says my Edge 1050 is on Version 30.18 and "You're up to date!". Again, clearly I am not.

Need help and answers.

Thanks, but I can not do a hard reset. I believe to do so I need to press both lap/reset and start/stop buttons sumultaneaously, and my lap/reset button doesn't seem to be working (it's stuck). Any other ideas? Did Garmin even test this release? So frustrating.

That’s nice! Well I also updated to 31.30 but after that it does still do again the gps firmware update to 16.01. It does however relatively quickly acquire sattelites after that and certainly when I just put my Garmin to sleep instead of fully off it is manageable now.

It does however keep updating the gps version to 16.01 each time I restart my Garmin Edge 1050. Still not very convenient.
Do you also still have that or did that also stop?

I updated to the 31.30 beta last night and the problem seems to be resolved. Instant satellite acquisition.

Thanks. My Edge has now updated to 31.29 which seemed to initialy work - but then it froze on start up with the Loader 31.29 message and then USB MTP mode (as per the other messages on this thread). I tried a full reset which seemed to clear it and I then connected it to Garmin Express which synced correctly. It started up okay after so I'm hoping that it will now be okay. It looks like you still have a problem though.
