Feature request: Assign Sensors to Activity Profiles

I own two bikes. One e-MTB and one normal MTB. Both bikes are equipped with a SRAM AXS shifter and a powermeter. As long as I use one of these bikes everything is fine. But recently my wife started to use my eMTB to join me on some rides. As the sensors of both bikes wake-up at about the same time my Edge connects randomly to the sensors it first detects. So I need to disable the sensors of the eMTB (my wife is using) and reconnect the sensors of regular MTB I am using. Of course on my next ride with my eMTB I need to reconfigure the sensors again.

That said, it would be desirable if the activity profiles would include the option to enable/disabled the sensors connected to the unit.

If it is physical damage, you'll need to reach out to Garmin Product Support to facilitate having your Edge serviced. Please visit https://support.garmin.com/ to enter your device model/serial number. After doing that, the next screen will have a "Contact Us for More Help" section which will get you in touch with your regional Support team.

Drink/eat (Timers) reminders

Hello fellow Garmin users,

I'm having a problem with the eat and drink reminders.

On my old Edge 530, I could set a reminder to eat and drink. This is also possible on a 1050, but the notification stays on the screen for only a very short time, and I don’t hear any sound either.

With the old Edge, I had to swipe the screen away myself, but now I often don’t see the notification and miss the moment. I mainly ride gran fondos, so nutrition is really important to me.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Garmin Coach workout completed on Edge 1050 but still shown as incomplete / Rest Day

I’m experiencing an issue with the Garmin Cycling Coach on my Edge 1050.

Today, Tuesday September 1st, my scheduled workout was:

Sprint - 53:00 - 2×14×0:10 @ 430 W

I started the workout directly from the Garmin Coach workout shown on the Edge 1050, so I did not start a generic or manually created workout.

I completed the entire workout and saved the activity normally. The activity was successfully synced to Garmin Connect and appears there as:

Sprint - 27.05 km - 54:05 - 149 W average power

However, Garmin Coach does not recognize the workout as completed.

In Garmin Connect, Tuesday still does not show the completed workout, and on the Edge 1050 itself the Training/Coach screen now shows “Rest Day” for today, while the Sprint workout is still shown as if it had never been completed.

I have already tried:

Synchronizing the Edge with Garmin Connect again
Restarting/syncing the device
Changing the activity type to “Training” and syncing again

None of this changed the workout status.

This is particularly confusing because the activity itself is clearly synced correctly and contains all the workout data. The problem seems to be specifically that Garmin fails to associate the recorded activity with the scheduled Garmin Coach workout.

What is the correct way to fix the completion status of an already completed Coach workout?

I do not want to reschedule or repeat the workout, since I have already completed it exactly as prescribed.

My Edge Firmware is up to date.

I have also seen multiple Edge 1050 firmware changelogs that specifically mention fixes for Garmin Coach issues such as workouts not showing as completed, workouts not syncing, and Garmin Coach incorrectly showing a rest day after a workout was completed.

However, I am still experiencing exactly these issues on my device. This makes it seem like the underlying problem is still not fully resolved, which, quite frankly, is pretty embarrassing for Garmin’s top of the line cycling device.

Yes indeed you have to enable system sound, but you can turn the volume way down. The bell still sounds like normal but all the other beeps are almost silent.

Since the beginning I disabled the sound of all the beeps and whistles. They annoy me. The bell however always worked. I seldom use the bell but today noticed that the bell didn't work anymore, not with the double tap on the screen or with the hidden button of my Di2. I have to enable sound to be able to use my bell in which case I get all the annoying beeps back. Is the bell now coupled to the sound? Has that change lately? I am confused.

Same problem this week, no sound for my bell. With sound system ON it's OK.

The ClimbPro behavior described in this thread has been addressed in Edge 1050 software version 32.20, which is now available to all users. Please update your Edge 1050 to the latest software version using Garmin Express or the Garmin Connect app.

If you continue to experience this issue with ClimbPro after updating to v32.20 or later, please create a new forum thread. Including a link to this discussion, details about your route, the software version currently installed on your Edge, and any screenshots or photos demonstrating the issue would be very helpful for further investigation.

Worked great prior to update to 30.18. Now almost useless to see what is coming.

A picture is worth a 1000 words. Two pictures worth more..

a bug? Any way to downgrade to prior version. Ugh!

My Edge 1050 crashes immediately if I long-press a Connect IQ app data field and then tap it briefly—for instance, to replace it with another app or a Garmin data field. Is a firmware update coming soon to finally fix this error, or is there a workaround to resolve this bug?

Update has been available for weeks. I have it on wifi. I've hard reset. Check for updates > no updates available / transfer already in progress. Nothing happens.

Does Garmin not buy Claude Code for its engineers?

I would use Garmin Express if it worked on MacOS Golden Gate... The update finally completed, inexplicably. There needs to be more readout on status - "is this thing actually working?"

6019210 If you are noticing difficulties updating through Wi-Fi, you can use Garmin Express instead which is found on a computer to do the update.

I have exactly the same problem. Bad it 3 times by now. Today was the 3rd one at about 220km if I remember correctly.

It sent a dump report or something like this. So maybe you can check this if I give you the serial of my device or check it via my profile?

Edge 1050 randomly reboots on firmware 32.20

Yesterday I was riding without navigation turned on, just a regular activity recording.

Maps are the standard ones, nothing third-party loaded.

The ride was long — moving time was 8:17:31, total time 15 hours 30 minutes — which is why the radar battery started running down.

Connected sensors were: cadence, HRM, and a Varia RTL515 (battery was low, then critical low). I had turned off the Varia's tail light to save battery, leaving only the radar function active.

The device rebooted twice, about 20-30 minutes apart, with no error messages at all — it just restarted. After the reboot, the tail light turned back on, and my activity was in a state as if I had pressed Finish but hadn't confirmed it yet — the screen had a red outline and a checkered flag icon.

This issue never happened on previous firmware versions.

If there's anything I can do to help investigate this, I'd be happy to.

Ride profile distance on home page differs to total rides recorded on device

HI - I have been using a Garmin 1050 for about 2 months. I have three separate ride type profiles set up i.e. Road / Gravel / MTB

Initially the totals for each ride type appeared to reflect the actual rides I had recorded on the device. However I have noticed that recently the distance for each profile type has been decreasing despite adding more rides.

As an example under my MTB profile I am now showing only 26 miles recorded as at today's date (see image below). But as you can then see from the two screen shots of recent rides I have MTB rides recorded of 25.04mi 30th Aug, 15.90mi 22nd Aug and then there are others during Aug and July. The same occurs for both the Road and Gravel profiles but just thought it easier to show the MTB profile as its a less prolific example.

The totals were definitely increasing after each ride in the early weeks of using the 1050 but at some point in the last few weeks that's changed.

Currently running software version 32.20

Sensor disconnect popup doesn't disappear when sensor reconnects

My 1050 is running FW 31.33, but I still get my radar disconnecting and then reconnecting at least once most rides. I know the radar has reconnected as I still get the beeps when vehicles are approaching from behind and see the dot(s) marching up the side of the screen, but the radar disconnected popup at the bottom of the screen doesn't disappear after the reconnection has happened, it sits there obscuring the bottom data fields until I tap on it to dismiss it. And if I have the screen locked (which is usually the case to prevent accidentally getting to the data field change screen when swiping between screens), then I have to press the power button to unlock the screen before I can dismiss the popup. Why doesn't it automatically disappear on its own once the sensor has reconnected?

Text message size compared to older Edges

See how small the text message is on this huge crystal clear Edge 1050 screen? Why is it bigger on my nine year old Edge 830? I called Garmin about that today, apparently there are no options for font size except on maps. My Fenix 8 has an option to make the text bigger, why not the 1050? It's sad that I can read messages on my tiny watch but not on Garmin's largest cycling GPS. I'm old (soon to be 65) and I can't read text messages unless I stop, and even then it's a struggle. I have to get my phone out most of the time. Bummer. I bought a bigger Edge thinking the font would be at least as big as the 830.
