Edge 1050 reports that Varia 820 (both light and radar) is connected, but no approaching vehicles are reported

Situation:
Garmin Edge 1050, running the SW 31.33

Varia 820 radar running, SW 6.7, connected to Edge as a radar (via secure Bluetooth) and light (via ANT+).

The issue - if the radar was power-cycled while the Edge unit was in sleep mode, the Edge reports the unit as connected (both as light and as radar), but no actual connection happens (vehicles aren't reported and light cannot be controlled) until Edge is power-cycled. Even if the radar is unpaired and re-paired, it doesn't work until the Edge is power-cycled.

Any suggestion on whether this is a normal behavior?

I’ve seen this as well with same firmware. Exactly as you describe. Sleep mode continues to misbehave. Power cycle is needed to restore operation.

Pavel Vishniakov mjharps75 Since you're already on current software and have confirmed that removing and re-adding the radar doesn't resolve the issue, I'd be interested in whether the connection can be recovered without restarting the Edge.

The next time this occurs, could you try turning the Varia off and back on again after waking the Edge and let us know whether radar detections and/or light controls resume?

I have already tried that (it was the first thing I’ve tried). And it doesn’t help - after power-cycling the radar, Edge shows the pop-up “Varia 820 Connected” but neither radar nor light controls actually work.

To further narrow this down:

Does your Edge and Varia 820 work correctly without the headlight?
Does the light controls work correctly?
Does the Varia 820 ever pick up on cars or other cyclists?

Happening the same but with Varia Rtl515 and super interested for this bug to be corrected as it is very annoying

I didn’t mention at all that my varia wasn’t detecting vehicles. I’m having the same issue as OP where if the edge unit goes to sleep with the varia connected, after waking up again the edge loses connection to the radar and I need to power cycle the unit

Sorry to reopen this but had to add to the conversation.

I have the same device duo. I was not able to narrow my issue down to the sleep cycle behavior but I always noticed this issue after recharging both devices. I was able to fix by resetting the varia before every ride which was not ideal. I RMAd the Varia with Garmin but just now encountered this issue again for the first time with my "new" device.

Something I have yet to check (because it is hard to spontaneously do) is see if the Varia App correctly identifies cars while the Edge does not.

Anyway, I am back to power cycling until I see new FW.

Same here with RTL515. Any news?. I can't erase the TRL515, when I try the edge goes to "saving diagnosis".
