Po pierwsze - mam ustawione w Edge FTP 234W i FTPHR 175. To wartość, którą, Edge sam mi wykrył pierwszego dnia jazdy. Wcześniej miałem ręcznie na 235 i 174.

Po drugie - mam dopiero 6 tygodni Edge 1040 i wysokie wartości jakie miałem to np. 236w i 168HR na podjeździe w czasie 19:25 lub 244W i 173HR na podjeździe w czasie 10:00.

Po trzecie - mój max 20' to 245W a 5' to 258W. Ważę 61 kg

Uwzgledniam zera w mocy i kadencji.

Edge 1040 FTP

Od jakiegoś miesiąca nie mam aktualizowanego FTP - podejrzewam problem z softem 31.33. Czy ktoś ma podobny problem?

Od razu dodam, że miałem sporo treningów po których FTP powinno się zmienić, zwłaszcza że obliczone VO2max z Edge podskoczyło w tym czasie z 60 na 62.

Varia RTL515 connecting problems with Edge 1040

I'm having a recurring connection problem between my Edge 1040 and Varia RTL515 radar, and I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this.

When I start a ride, the light turns on and the light function works fine, I can change the light mode from the computer. But the radar does not work. Under sensors it shows "Radar searching," and if I tap search it never finds the device.

Restarting the Varia does nothing. If I unpair the radar from the Edge 1040 and put the Varia into pairing mode, the Edge 1040 doesn't find the radar at all, it never shows up in the list. The only way to reconnect is to restart the Edge 1040 itself; after that it connects normally.

This has now happened twice. Has anyone else run into this?

My device info:

Garmin Edge 1040, software version 31.30
Garmin Varia RTL515, software version 3.36

I'm encountering the same issue with my 1050 and RTL 516 since a few months. It's very frustrating, potentially dangerous and has been posted about for months already.

At this point we have to assume that there is no intent to provide adequate support for your customers after a critical bug has been identified.

what is the actual FTP in the Edge? what was the avgW for 5' and 20'? is the 0 included in the power averaging in the settings , right? (Select > System > Data Recording.)

i get/got FTP value change with 31.33 also , up or down a bit but after a time you wont get new value if your real FTP is not moving because you reached the plateu and your power is constant.

Jeździłem mocne segmenty trwające od 5 do 20'. Wcześniej w Edge 530 miałem co 1-3 tygodnie aktualizację. Edge 1040 nawet po mocniejszym Z2 robił korektę. Od miesiąca nic, może to wina nowego softu?

the FTP and VO2Max are independent from each other.... (and easily to fool the VO2Max algorhythm in Garmin, sometimes it off with 10-20%... , especially if you dont set the maxHR exactly to an actual max value )

can you prove an effort which is an evidence that it should increase your Garmin FTP from the last known value?

Having the same issue for at least the least week. Edge 1050 Varia RCT715. Light was working but Radar would not. Tried power cycling both to no improvement. I removed the sensor and it now will not show to read. I confirmed it's the Edge 1050 because I am able to add the Varia to my Tactix 8. I have my Edge 1050 connected to Express now downloading all updates, but SW said it was already up to date, I can see the version because I'm in USB mode and updating.

Despite reporting this in an early Beta the battery percentage for 1040 is unusable.

The battery indicator is a safety status issue for bikepacking / audace events where loosing the device / navigation out on a long course could be critical.

Yesterday, my battery went *UP* from 84% to 98% during a 4hr ride in the battery datafield indicator.

Swiping down to see the status showed the same value.

I don’t know how to be able to ride for the next 9 days off-road on this release version and keep a single route file for completion reporting.

I have no idea how something this simple, yet major - and reported - could pass quality control. I can only assume some marketing deal with forced deadlines for this release as it appears the buggiest yet…. And feedback to the beta forum is none-existent. Perhaps timelines have also suffered fallout from the need to address the 2026.10 maps.

There are several other issues reported as addressed that are *NOT* fixed (at least on the 1040, where the changelog comes from) such as removal of daily suggestions and ClimbPro layout, there are things reported as fixed that were only introduced as regressions in the beta so should not be live changelog items (course list crashing) and “fixed” things that have no documentation as to how they should work, and only “work” in a specific way that makes people think it doesn’t (AutoZoom)

… I could go on, but pls just fix the battery status first

Training effect and stamina calculation missing

Hi,

I noticed that stamina was never calculated on my device during today's session (even though it worked earlier this week), and no values are populated in Garmin Connect after the ride.

Setup: Edge 1040 (v31.33) + HRM 200 (v5.40), plus a bike power meter.

It has been working without any issues since day one, so I'm not sure what happened. Any ideas? Heart rate and power tracking were completely normal, and my FTP as well as HR/power zones are properly set up.

Since updating to firmware 31.31 and installing the TopoActive Europe 2026.11 maps, I have noticed significant lag when following a route in navigation mode using a GPX file.

The map no longer updates smoothly and there is a delay in the position tracking, especially when changing direction or approaching an intersection. The map rotation and redraw speed are noticeably slower than before.

Yesterday I was riding a MTB route and, fortunately, it was signposted because if I had relied solely on the GPS instructions, I would probably still be waiting for them…

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue on the Edge 1040 since these updates?

I followed your instructions on edge 1040 solar, and it indeed improved the maps, but only on .img file (bbb extract). Topomaps are still super sluggish. At least now this device is "usable". Wondering with what garmin team will suprise us next :)

Observed since reported in 31.x beta timeline.

Start device from power-off state

Battery at 73%

Plug in device

* issue #1 the charging symbol (top left) does not change until force UI refresh with swipe-down to reveal settings pages

Charge device to 76%

* issue #2 the battery charge % does not update until changing ‘ pages’ in the UI with swipe actions

Start an activity

Change to a screen with the battery datafield displayed

* Main Issue - observe battery level percentage increase by c. 1% per 20 minutes up to 100% in both datafield and swipe-down settings page.

Of course all this information is available in this, and the 840 forum, as well as the 1040 beta forum where it was reported before it went out as the 31.x live release. Asking for this info again rather than just replicating in-house is incongruous - do you not actually have physical devices to test things on?

Same here, the device now struggles to load the map whilst riding, sometimes the map won’t load at all. And this was after a fresh wipe and setup from scratch. The device is now dog slow

did anyone tried this:

Keep your Edge 540 plugged into the PC.

Open the internal storage folder labeled Garmin.

Back up the contents to your PC first, then safely delete old files inside the SQL and SID folders.

Re-sync via Garmin Express to let it rewrite fresh index files.

after removing that files, map draws significantly better then before on my e540, will have to try out now navigation as this was super laggy and annoying, missed turns many times during the last race

Yeah mine 2 as of a couple of weeks ago sometimes it shows sometimes not. Shows climb ahead but then nothing and sometimes climbs when there were no climb there before all this started sfter last update

On FW 31.31, there is a serious bug with ClimbPro automation. When approaching a climb, the device correctly shows the "Climb Ahead" notification at the bottom, but the actual ClimbPro screen never pops up automatically anymore. I am forced to manually swipe and search through my data pages to find the climb screen. Please fix this regression, as automatic page transitions for climbs are broken.

Edge 1040 Series SW 31.33

After the update the 1040 keeps crashing, freezing and doing nothing. Touch Display is slow and doesnt response to any input. Several reboots sometimes work that the device is usable for a short time, than its getting freezed again.

Its so weird that min every 2 or 3rd update crashed the device. Main issue is to get more and more not used features into the device without an option to disable them, like after a tour ... the equipment question. Not needed. The battery percentage is not correct, after a reboot it switches up or down more than 15%, depends if its the second or 3rd or 4th reboot.

Im so tired now since the last month updates issueing more headache as needed. Perhaps time to switch away from fenix watch and 1040 to coros as a lot of friends already switched as of runtime and not issues. Runtime is as well important as our team doing ultra cycling races.

The equipment tracking prompt can be disabled through the activity profile settings.

Not defending Garmin here, but I haven't had any crashes with 31.33. You may want to reset your device as well as uninstall and later reinstall all maps–those are the typical fixes for filesystem corruption.

Hi everyone,

I have followed all the instructions list that has been suggested here, and now im on 31.33 and 2026.11 topomaps.

Clearing temp files helped for a second, but still 1040 solar wont go into segments while tracking, solar panel adds about less than 10% of activity time to the battery (ex 2hr in full sun used to give like 25-30mins, and now its less than 10mins :/ ), loading map after course selection is painfully slow. If I turn maps details to "advanced" the device becomes almost completely frozen.

I have recently put back my old garmin 520 for my gf and it works x5 times better and faster... Is really going to magene and IGsport the only solution?
