Can't set crank length Power Tap P1

I'm running v3.9 firmware and my power data has dropped by about 50w. Power Tap have said check the crank length. I check the sensor details and crank length isn't there...

Do others see it on other firmware versions?
  • Are you paired to the P1 using BLE or ANT.? If you are using BLE I would suggest switching to using ANT as I'm sure that does show the crank length.

I',m assuming that PowerTap got you to update the P1 to the latest software release.

Make sure you are connected to the P1 first. I recently switched bikes and had to change the crank length of my P1 while using my 1030. BTW I can't imagine 50w drop is power is due to crank length. More like lost 1 pedal.
  • The crank length error is linear. By default it should 172.5 mm. If your actually crank length is 170 then you will be getting a slight uplift. 172.5/170 = 101.47 % of the true value.

The P1 in BLE does not combine the data from both pedals into a single channel it requires that both pedals to be paired separately. Most head units and web apps cannot do this, so it then operates like a single sided system.
