Garmin Edge 1030 Broken Mount tab

Hello

I know this has been previously raised as an issue, however I cannot find any answer when the device is out of warranty.

The tab on the rear of my Garmin Edge 1030 (not Plus model) has just broken in the same way. No longer under warranty. Is there now a replacement part available? The rear of the device seems to be sealed? The device fortunately is still fully functioning.

I have two Garmin Edge 1030+. I think I used to have them both paired with my phone (OnePlus 15), but now I can only pair one at a time. is that the normal behaviour?

I recently acquired a second 830 & they are both paired to my phone, so I don't see any reason it's not working for you .

it's not clear - the two paragraphs in the linked page appear contradictory. My use case is one phone, bikes in two different locations, each location has an Edge 1030+ So it's only one user's data (mine) but I have two homes, bikes in each location and I don't take my Edge with me when I travel between them, just my phone. I don't need the Connect app to connect to two Edge devices at once, just the one that happens to be in range - but I don't think I've been able to get it to do that (should it work?) I *think* that i can use the app on each Edge in turn to configure the WiFi connection to each home, and that should allow it to sync to Strava via WiFi. I don't care about the data in the Connect app - I'm only trying to get the data into Strava.

pmoorhead Yes, this is normal behavior. The Garmin Connect app will only connect and sync with one device at a time. For additional information, visit Can I Pair More Than One Device to the Garmin Connect App?

So you were offered the Topoactive EU 2026.11 map update? I haven't even had that option.

As a test I removed the EU 2025.20 maps from my 1030 and copied the 2026.11 topo maps over from my Fenix, which work. Arguably better than the old maps as I was getting reboots with those when doing a city search & the 2026.11 maps are working.

GE however wants to reinstall the 2025.20 maps whenever I connect it to the PC

I did the update yesterday, it removed my previous 2025 EU cycle maps and replaced it with USA maps, when i tried to remove USA and reinstall western and central EU it now no longer shows any maps in Garmin express, however western topoactive is installed.

I'd wait a while, looks like garmin express needs an update or two.

I've pretty much given up as there is no support whatsoever from Garmin. They much prefer to offer a $50 discount on a new $600 unit.

I'm moving on to the Magene C706. I can buy almost three of them for the price of one Edge 1050 and I'm getting all of the features I need plus some. If the premium price of Garmin is not matched with premium service then it's better to buy the cheap stuff and replace as needed. There are too many engineering and design problems with the Garmin products to warrant the price differential. I've battled this long enough and it's just not worth it anymore.

I reached the same conclusion with the Cycliq camera/light products (Fly6 and Fly12). They are good, but way too many design issues that cause short lifespan of the units. The support is the same.....upgrade. So I've moved on to new competitive products costing 1/4 the investment and can just replace as needed.

I can’t connect my heart rate monitor to my Garmin Edge 1030 Plus GPS cycle computer via ANT. The monitor only accepts BLE connections. Is this normal? If not, how do I enable the ANT connection?

Garmin Edge 1030 HRM stopped connecting

Sunday, my garmin edge 1030 worked just fine. Monday, it dropped the polar HRM that has been connected for a couple of years. I figured i just needed to change the battery but this has not worked.

Here is what i have tried:

1. When it showed up as a sensor, i disconnected it, then reconnected. But it would never reconnect. It was stuck in "connecting"

2. Did a default reset on the garmin. This did not help and it struggled to repair to the phone. I am wearing the HRM and has been stuck in "to connect the HRM, put it on". for the last 30 minutes

3. The cadence sensor dropped out a few weeks ago and i figured that was due to a battery that i have not yet changed.

Is there something malfunctioning on my edge that is not allowing anything to pair? This HRM works fine as always on my Forerunner 235

Thanks for any assistance! I would like to have a functioning device by the weekend.

It turned out to be the HRM. I bought a new one and it paired immediately. I thought it was working on the Forerunner but in reality it was not using the Polar but the wrist sensor. Good luck!

I have the same problem. I've replaced the battery, reset the 1040 and it just won't connect. It's stuck with the message, 'to connect the heart rate monitor, put it on'. But it's on.

Sorry this isn’t strictly 1030 but couldn’t find an appropriate forum to post in….

Trying to resurrect an old Garmin Edge 1000 and last option is to use some old version firmware. Does anyone have a copy for download (v6 to v10)?

Alternatively has anyone successfully fixed one? It charges, shows garmin loading screen, visible as device on computer but won’t fully load up. Tried a Garmin cure option with no joy.

yeah, i know, probably they just forgot to release it as stable (as they forgot to fix other issues in the x30 family like the timestamp issue/flyby offset)

Beta is the latest version (of a software program) before commercial release or production deployment.

Logically, if the beta version represents an improvement over version -1 (as cited ifor the 830), it should be released to production; otherwise, the beta version should be abandoned.

our 830 has this .81 beta since 3 years without any issue. the x30 development suddenly halted (this beta came too late already i think when the x40 was already released and the Garmin ignored the x30 family due to the new models' bugs.)
