eGear+,SRAM Red eTap and Edge Explore 1000

Garmin Express says the eGear+ is loaded on my 1000. I can't find it on the unit. Add sensor doesn't have a shifting selector. The unit has been synced and updates. Any ideas? Even though the app is loaded does that mean that the 1000 supports it?

eGear+ provides complete compatibility for edge 1000 devices. But, I think you own an edge explore device and not edge 1000.
In that case, I am afraid that Garmin does not provide compatibility with electronic shifting for explore devices.
The datafield should not be shown as available for explore, but Garmin has automatically extended compatibility in the store based on screen size an minimum supported SDK.

So that means even though Express says it's loaded it's not usable, so I might as well delete it. Very disappointing.
