EDGE 1000 SWITCHING OFF

When i plug in to charge my Edge 1000 it wakes up and then switches off a few seconds later when the RIDE screen comes on. Any ideas?

It switches to charging / Mass Storage mode if the power source is an USB port on the PC and will wake up to normal 'power on' mode as soon as the device is detached.
When using a dedicated 5V charger the Edge will wake up normally and stay in that mode during charge. You eventually can switch off the device manually in the meantime until charged.

At least this is the behavior of my Edge Touring and my Edge Explore and i can imagine that the 1000 behaves similar.

Another reason for what you describe may be a corrpupted map or different file which causes the device to 'crash'.
