Edge 1000 Boot Loop after 3 years - replacement unit offered by Garmin

Hi All,

My Edge 1000 is in a boot loop after just over 3 years of service recording just over 6500 miles. Do people get much more use out of their Garmins?

Garmin have indicated there is a terminal issue and offered me a refurbished unit with a 90 day warranty for £195. Are they joking? Why would I ever take such a poor deal for a device that has a rubbish track record [the number of software updates that were painful to complete has been so frustrating].

What are your experiences? I've certainly read many comments that suggest people are moving to Wahoo.

It's funny how you can be so positive about a brand and then become so disappointed. Currently I'm not in a position to recommend Garmin to anybody.

Could be a bad micro SD card? Remove it & see if that solves the problem.

I have exactly the same issue. In a loop and no way of getting out. The start up sound is driving me crazy. Already requested some info from garmin but after a week still no answer. Disappointing service.

It’s kind of late. And, maybe, things changed in 23 days....

Currently, that link shows “find a dealer”. There is no button to buy it from Garmin. That is, you can’t buy the 1000 from Garmin (anymore). You can only but it from some other place. It’s not likely anybody has any stock of the 1000 left.

Garmin hasn’t made the 1000 since the 1030 (they probably stopped making the 1000 before the 1030). Garmin hasn’t made the 1030 since the 1030+.

The outcome was Garmin USA authorised a replacement Edge 1000, which the UK team sent out.

I was offered 30% off a £500+ 1030 or an exchange/repaired 1000 for £200. Not great! The device was not recoverable......

Mine was out of guarantee - so no free replacement offered for me in the UK? Just repaired/exchange unit for £200 or 30% off a £500+ Edge 1030!

I had exactly the same issue and then eventually the device went dead and no amount of trying various reset and reboot options brought it back to life. Garmin offered £195 for replacement or 30% off a new device - totally rubbish! Will not be buying Garmin again...

I am having the same problem with my Garmin 1000 , contacted Garmin and they offered me a replacement for £195 what a joke the device isn’t even 3 years old
