TMP files in NewFiles Folder

Every now and then I connect my Edge 1000 to my PC to back it up and when checking the NewFiles folder I keep finding some TMP files.  I have deleted these files on previous occasions but they keep appearing.  I sync using my Android phone before and after a ride.  I have noticed that when I sync using the phone I get a "Download Failed" then a "Download Complete" message on the Garmin Edge 1000.  How can I stop them in the future?

    The download speed from the phone is slow. The file that is being downloaded is given a tmp file extension when starting the download. When it has completely download the file the extension is changed. If a download gets interrupted for any reason such as powering the Edge off you are left with tmp files. When the phone next connects it should pick up where it left off and containing to add data to the tmp files until they are complete.
