The Forerunner 45 does not have configurable lap alerts. I think the triangle is a representation of a road converging into the distance.

I have exactly the same problem, which also emerged recently. On the main watch face, one press of "up" takes me to heart rate summary as usual. A second press and the display briefly goes blank, before showing the start up triangle.
Since V7.8x (Edge1030) direction signs (red triangles) have gone. I can't see anymore in a loaded course/round trip preview if the course is clockwise or anti-clockwise.
Up to V7.50 that function had been working...course had many of these direction…
