Garmin G5 + GAD 13+ Davtron C307PS

Hello,

I recently installed a Garmin G5.
I’ve also fitted a GAD13 and a Davtron C307PS for the OAT.

Everything was installed correctly according to the fitting instructions, but the G5 isn’t displaying the OAT.

I’ve attached a few photos below.
I don’t own any other Garmin devices, so the existing CAN cable would need to be disconnected.

Loading approach after destination

When I enter a flight plan in the GPS 175 and select/load an approach, the approach is loaded after the destination airport. How do I make the approach appear before the destination?

SouthPAN SBAS Compatibility

The SouthPAN GNSS augmentation service (SBAS) covering Australia and NZ is currently planned to be certified for safety-of-life applications in 2028. Is there any way of knowing which models of Garmin's WAAS aviation receivers will properly support SouthPAN once it becomes available? I expect that any current models would work just fine, but I haven't been able to find any definitive information on the Garmin website.
If some sort of enablement is required, would it also be available on Garmin's legacy products, eg. 400W/500W series or GNS480/CX80?
Would standalone position sources used for ADS-B, eg. GPS20A or GTX345 need a firmware update?

GTN750 - G5 GAD29B

Anyone have an issue where the GTN is not displaying the EFIS data from G5? There are no fault messages in neither G5 or GTN, can see data on the 750 420 IN PORT but it is just not displaying when going to utility and DALT/TAS WINDS page.. all greyed out. Verified configs.. All units updated to the latest software.

Any hope for a GFC500 for Cessna T210-R. This is the only model without an STC

GNX 375 unit failure

Has anyone had any problems with a GNX 375 that was installed in late 2025 having power failure issues? I had an airplane leave the shop and had flown for a little over 5 hours (multiple flights) and had a screen blackout on them while taxing back to parking. Then the screen would try to reboot but kept blacking out like a boot error would.

How to select a SID at your destination airport in the Garmin G1000?

When creating an IFR flightplan in the Garmin 1000, you enter a departure and destination airport in the flightplan page. At the destination airport you can than select an arrival and/or approach from the procedure page.
So far so good.

But when practicing IFR approaches at your destination and you are doing e.g. a missed approach below minimum or a touch&go after an IFR approach, ATC might require you to fly an SID at the destination airport (due to obstacle clearance reasons) instead of a missed approach procedure.

But now comes the problem: at the destination airport, you cannot select any SID from the G1000 procedure (PROC) section!

The urge to select a SID out of the G1000 database comes especially when the required SID is laterally deviating from the missed approach path and when the e.g. RNAV SID consisting only of waypoints, without the possibility to fly it raw data.

Theoretically, you could create a second flightplan with your destination as a new departure and destination airport and pre-loading a SID…but this would mean that, at minimum on the IFR approach (and the instruction from ATC to fly a specific SID) you would have to swap and activate the flightplan with the pre-loaded SID and maybe select a direct to the next waypoint on this SID before activating GPS.

This is a very impracticable procedure at this stage involving the risk to loose control of the aircraft at a very low altitude.

My question is: is there a better way to have a SID ready to activate and fly at your destination airport?

GNS430 W TO PMA6000B AUDIO PANEL

Does someone have the pinout between the above as the instal manual only has the older PMA6000 - PMA8000, which have different references I believe I have mapped them but the mic audio low show forums.garmin.com/.../wiring-diagram.pdfto earth however the PMA 6000 B show them going to pins in the audio panel

Anybody else seeing database subscription weirdness lately?

My "US VFR Plus Database Bundle" (the $50/year sub) seems to have just spontaneously disappeared.

The last databases in my G3X Touch expired just a week ago, but when I go to GADM it says I have no subscription and no databases.

When I log onto the Garmin site, it thinks my last sub expired in May of 2024 (!). Yet I was getting databases as recently as a a month ago, and I was on auto-renew. There's no sign of that on Garmin's web site - as if I never had it (at least since 2024).

I did a chat with support and they just gave me a 1 year IFR subscription for free to stop my complaints, but without any explanation as to what happened.

That's nice and appreciated, but am I the only one whose sub just went poof?

Have there been any overheating issues with Garmin GTR 225?

It is almost routine for me to lose some GTR 225 comm capabilites after ~45 minutes of flight. What happens is the sidetone when transmitting goes away although my Skyview still indicates that I'm transmitting. Reception may also be reduced when my sidetone is gone. Occasionally, it will come back later and appear perfectly normal. At one point I thought my carbon fiber instrument panel may be part of the problem so I removed my headphone jacks from my intument panel and have my headset plugged into the jacks directly (so they are somewhat loose but not touching the instrument panel). And yet it still happens. Could this be caused by overheating of the GTR 225?

Looking for Help with Plugin/Software to Track Terrain Surveyed by Aircraft Camera

Hello All,

I've been contracted to do some aerial wildlife surveys using a plane-mounted camera, and I'd like to find a way to be able to track where I have and haven't been on my GPS based on altitude, so I can see what areas have and haven't been surveyed with the camera. Does anyone know of any software plugins I can attach to my GPS to get this to happen?

What I need Minimum:

- Realtime view of what I've already covered, indicated by ground covered.

- A way to automatically adjust the amount of ground covered based on the altitude I had above that area, so I can account for the camera's FOV and ensure that it gets footage of everything. I.e, being higher up means more coverage until we exceed the camera's zoom.

Extras:

- A way to overlay my survey grid onto the GPS so I can know where one grid ends and another begins would be very beneficial.

- This whole thing should be run as automatically as possible, I don't have much time to fly and operate the camera as well.

Garmin TXi 1060 Outer Knob Intermittent Functionality

I added a Garmin G600 TXi 1060 last year to my Commander- it's really a beautiful screen.

I continue to have this problem where the outer knob stops working. I've had it in the shop three times and they can't replicate the problem, but they say the knob tests functional. It almost seems like a software problem. When I turn the outer knob, the setting I am on, course for example, will toggle between the current number and the next number up. So if I'm flying in heading mode at 300° and I turn the knob to the right, it will go to 301° then back to 300° as I continue to turn to the right.

The problem happens about a third of my flights, and cycling the power off in the air and turning it back on does not fix the problem, however occasionally on long flights it will start working in the middle of the flight.

In this video, I was trying to change the IAS, but the problem occurs with any function that uses the outer knob. The IAS setting was at 150 and I was trying to decrease the speed, to climb faster before I took off. In the video I initially turned the knob to the left many clicks, then to the right many clicks. Each time the knob clicked, the IAS speed toggled between 149 and 150 knots.

The shop has done all of the software updates and initially told me that it was probably a fluke software bug that likely won't happen again. Later they said they took the knob apart and everything physically appears okay.

I was hoping someone here may have advise for me.. It is stressful when I'm in my rhythm flying and the knob doesn't work and I have to come up with an alternative way to get the setting in the box.

GTN 650xi not showing ASOS anymore

Hello -- While on a flight yesterday, I noticed that my GTN 650xi was not showing the AWOS weather station at my destination airport. I would lcikc "Waypoint info > Weather" and it said something like "Weather Not Available". It remained this way for the next hour and until I landed. On the FIS-B status page, several other weather products were showing up (green), while METARS are white (awaiting data).

How could I be receiving several weather sources, but not AWOS at my destination?

SL30, SL40 and Options

I have an SL30 in my SLSA.

I the last 6 months, it has started giving me a problem, After every 15-20 seconds, the display changes to SYS mode - but the COMM radio continues to work! Then I have to press several keys at random to get back to COMM display to switch from Standby to Active, or enter another Frequency. The NAV radio also works but the display keeps switching back to SYS display every 15-20 seconds.

I called Garmin, and they told me that I could send it back for repair/refurbish, and it would cost be about $1100.

Now tGarmin is discontinuing SL30 as well as SL40 at the end of 2025.

I am looking at my options:

1. Send my SL30 for repair/refurbish and risk what happens after 2025: Cost: $1100 Plus Fed Ex ($100 including insurance)

2. Sell my current SL30 as used - I do not know if anyone will buy it or what I can get for it? And then get a new Comm Radio though I will need a permission from LSA manufacturer to install a new but different radio model. Not a big deal though. Cost: Unknown

3. Exchange my SL30 with a SL40 since I never use NAV radio - I do not know if this can be done or how to do it?

Any advice/suggestions?

Garmin Pilot recommends closed runway as "Best RWY"

Over the last few days, Runway 17R/35L at Ellington Airport (KEFD) has been closed.

I was surprised to see that when looking at the airport details, the suggested runway to use for the wind conditions was 17R, which is currently CLOSED!
Yet runway 17L next to is open (although shorter).

The graphical diagram of the airport does correctly show the runway in RED, indicating that it is closed.

Why would there be such an important safety-related inconsistency?

GTN 750 Import Flightplan from Skydemon

Hi folks,

the C172 which I charter has a build-in GTN750

I personally use skydemon for planing.

I know that it´s possible to import the created flightplans into the GTN750 (not XI)

For that, you shoud export the flightplan in Skydemon to the root of an SD-Card.

I tried both, the original database SD-Card from Garmin an empty on.

The you should insert the SD-CArd, power up the 750, hit the "flightplan" butten, then menu, the catalog, then menu again and there should be an "Import" Button, but in my case, there are just the "delete all" and the "delete pending" buttons.

Where is my error?

Main Software Version is 6.73

GPS Software 8.3

Com Software 2.30

NAV Software 6.03

Any solutions?

GWX 75 in a PA-46 Pod

Trouble Uploading Checklist to GTN 750 txi

I have downloaded the Checklist Editor 2.30 and produced a set of Checklists for my GTN 750 txi.

Saved it to a newly formatted SD card, onto the root directory. There are no other files on the card.

Inserted card in GTN, Master ON, Avionics Master ON. No recognition of the card by the GTN. No options in System Menu to upload card (Checklist.ace file).

What else does this procedure need for me to get the Checklist operating?

Garmin Pilot app/Lynx L3 ADS-B compatibility

GFC 500 will not enter NAV mode for GPS track

I can’t get NAV mode to work for a GPS track. It will work when tracking to a VOR. This used to work, but I’m new to the setup so may be something simple I’m doing wrong. HDG and TRK mode works just fine. Can anyone see what I’m doing wrong? Thanks
