I proposed him not to update. I am fully pleased with that version. Afair there were some newer versions with which I was relatively OK, hmmm maybe 17.28? was that also OK, and just partly OK with 18.14/18.16. I could use these latter two with a tweak to still keep my custom map themes preferences, but the annoying glueing of phone (audio) alerts to watch-based alerts (vibration and/or sound) made me mad. Or maybe I am wrong, because 17.28 already had the navi related audio alert enforcement. I see that not too much people love custom map themes as I do, and maybe audio alert was separated from watch alerts during course navigation. But even if so 16.22 was a stable version, and as I read many of the 2x.xx sw versions had bugs.

Forum Post: RE: Iron Grit

Thank you. Today, Saturday June 13 2026, Arcachon (Bassin d'Arcachon, France): • Garmin shows afternoon high tide at 17:48 • Official SHOM data shows afternoon high tide at 16:52 • Error: 56 minutes (Garmin running late this time) Summary of all three observations so far: • May 30 — Garmin 3h07 early (high tide) • June 7 — Garmin 31 min early (low tide) • June 13 — Garmin 56 min late (high tide) The error is not only variable in magnitude, it also changes direction — sometimes Garmin is ahead of the actual tide, sometimes behind. This completely rules out any simple timezone or DST explanation (which would produce a fixed, consistent offset). It points squarely at a corrupted or incorrect harmonic dataset in WWO's database for this location. Still using maree.shom.fr as a workaround. The watch remains unusable for tidal planning on the Bassin d'Arcachon until this is fixed.

Forum Post: RE: Garmin Express problem after 21.39

Same for me, working again with 7.29.0.

Forum Post: RE: Wrong tide data Epix and Instinct

Hello, Same here. It's better than last week but almost 1h difference with real tide time... May be as you say DST issue because before these completely wrong data, there were generally ~30min offset, may be due to slack tide ? Furthermore, we can see that water height is divided by ~2 compared to real. For exemple, today 13 june, Garmin Epix / Instinct Solar Surf--> South West France: H 4:28 2.39m L 10:18 0.53m H 16:50 2.41m L 22:42 0.41m Real tide (SHOM): H 3:24 4.32m L 9:20 1.07m H 15:48 4.41m L 21:49 0.94m Garmin have you found the issue ? At times, this makes the display unreadable. A reset and a hard reset did not improve the situation. I’ve also completely drained the battery and recharged it, but that didn’t help either. Interestingly, this happens almost exclusively on dark or coloured backgrounds. I’ve already contacted Garmin support, but they don’t offer either a repair or a replacement for this watch (only a discount on a new watch of my choice). That’s a shame, since I only bought the watch 5 years ago and all of its other functions work perfectly. So it would be a waste to have to throw the watch away. I did a full shutdown and reconnection once, requiring me to completely reset my watch faces, settings and phone settings, who's is very inconvenient. This lasted a few weeks before disconnecting again and again. THIS IS RUBBISH FOR A HIGH END WATCH. Is this part of Garmin's way of getting people to purchase new watches through engineered obsolescence? Because if it is, it has failed miserably, I will no longer trust Garmin products because they are obviously either rubbish or this built in obsolescence is immoral. If it's a software issue. FIX IT. IM THOROUGHLY SICK TO DEATH OF HAVING TO RE-ESTABLISH MY WATCH ON MY PHONE SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. And it obviously a known issue, because so many people have reported it that's it a known FAULT. This is not what I expected when I bought a Garmin watch, my Garmin GPS performs faultlessly and has done so for many years, even my abused and well used GPSMAP 64 has never failed me. But this damn watch is rubbish. Please fix it.
