Rubber strap starting to wear, anyone else?

Less than 1 year, worn daily. It’s very worn now, and I was debating replacing it, but reluctant for the cost!

barely any tread left on mine in half the spots..  who cares I say! :)

Oh wow! It seems you got some good use out of it as its actually worn away lol. My coating is just coming off and its well taken care of. 

It’s a very nice watch, but it gets used as intended. It’s certainly not getting the life of a show pony. I’m tempted by the horween leather one that appeared recently, but then I do use it rather than look at it, so not sure how leather will hold up to bring wet/cold/hot/dry etc., and more specifically how it’ll feel.

This is just what happens with silicone bands.  I've found the MARQ silicone band to be better in this respect than any of the Fenix 5/5+/6X bands I've had, but it does still wear (especially if you're a desk worker and the underside of your wrist is constantly rubbing on the desk surface as you type).  It's just normal wear and doesn't impact function.

Did you have silicone bands on those watches? 

Never had this happen on my TAG connected silicone which has been in extra salty waters, and used for heavy workouts for over 2 years of daily wear. Seems Garmin has a coating that wears off, others don't have this. 

I think it's more to do with going for a softer compound to give the 'stretchyness' required for the optical heart rate (which simply isn't a design consideration for the TAG). My old Garmin Fenix 2 and Fenix 3 bands (original Fenix 3 didn't have OHR) were made of harder material and didn't wear like these newer silicone bands for OHR.

The Montblanc does have HR, and the new TAG Gen 3 has HR and the straps are arguably just as soft, if not softer. The Garmin strap is great in many regards, just wish it didn't have this weak coating.
