? Question marks ? in notification...

As a flagship product, why couldn’t it support Chinese characters in notification...

My family and friends are live in TW, so when they text me, my MARQ always show ???????, this really bothers me a lot!

Again, as a flagship product, it doesn’t make sense to restrict showing Chines characters in notification, it makes me feel disappointed on this product!

Hopefully this can be fixed!

I'm assuming you bought a North American or European unit, rather than APAC (Asia/Pacific countries). Generally, the units have language files to cover the region they are from, so the APAC units should have a Chinese language file in the Garmin/Text folder on the device (but N America and European units won't). It may be worth contacting Garmin Customer Support to see if they can provide you with the APAC language files to go on your device.

I know people get frustrated by APAC devices getting software updates significantly behind other regions, but I think it is exactly this language file compatibility that drives the delay (they have to be sure the APAC languages work on the new software before release).

The MARQ watch series language abilities are impacted by the country they are purchased within and the specific country will be the determining factor on the languages available on the watch. For example, if a MARQ watch is purchased in Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, or mainland China, the watch will display Chinese characters both in the menus and when receiving incoming smart notifications that are received to the watch. Due to how certain language characters display on our products, they require completely different software versions in those unique regions of the world.

If your specific MARQ watch was purchased outside of those countries, you will not be able to view Chinese characters on your MARQ. Instead, Chinese character messages will need to be viewed on your smartphone.

I did buy some other Garmin’s products before , and can fully understand the policy that Garmin sets the system language tie to the skus sell in different countries.

So my prospective using experience is not letting the system language (e.g. menu) become Chinese, but just want the smart notification to show those characters normally instead of a lot of ????? displayed.

I appreciate Garmin launch a superior product MARQ and I really do like it a lot, but it’s too bad that ????? shows up when notifications come, especially for a flagship product like MARQ...

Not true, my fenix6 sapphire is ASIA version, also display ? at notifaction

However my frend own 945, also bought from Malaysia able to display chinese character

From Singapore here, can you let me know how a Singapore Fenix 6X Pro can display Chinese since you mentioned Singapore unit can work with Chinese text/notification...now I only get ??? Whenever receive a Chinese text...

i see nobody from garmin answered in threads about Latvian language characers. I bought watch in garmin store in Latvia and all specific Latvian characters was with ?. I just looked in calendar and its 2020...
