Long time 'maps loading' after maps update TopoActive Europe 2019.20

Last night I run the TopoActive Europe maps update 2019.20 on my Marq Expedition ... all fine so far but I realized that now every time after disconnection from the computer the watch says 'loading maps' for several minutes.

I do remember I did have the same on my old Fenix 5x plus ...

So what i the reason for this and is there anything I can do against it?!

No answer / idea here? For me it looks like, the watch needs longer to load the maps after every update. There might be a way to 'clean' that. Garmin might know and tell us ...

Check out the Forerunner 945 forum. There is a similar thread there. I haven’t updated my maps yet, so no experience to share.

When you say several minutes, how many minutes?

Have you tried a hard reset? Press and hold top left until shuts down then restart. FWIW mine took close to 3 minutes to get to the watch face following a reboot. That's actually faster than before the update.

If you believe there to be a problem, your best course of action is to contact Garmin Support. You cannot guarantee these forum posts will be monitored.

Hard reset and new loading the maps did help a little bit - just 'around me' takes minutes to be shown. But as I don't use it I can live with it at the moment.

Be sure they do monitor this forum ... and I can't see why they can't give any commands what might have happened and what is sense full to do. Especially as there are other watches (Foranner 945) with the same problem.

I also updated the maps yesterday. But I first removed the old maps. All of them. With only topo Europe installed AND a GPS-lock (outdoors) both the start up of maps and the around me function was fast. But without a GPS-lock slow.

I then added the other maps, like ski, and rest of world... and the “around me” got slow... like a minute or two (with GPS lock).

I've also noticed this since an update a couple of weeks ago - now when I either restart my Marq or unplug if from my computer it takes a good couple of minutes to load the maps before it goes to the watch face, whereas previously it was near-as instant enough to make no difference. My old f5+ that I have 'on standby' has also started exhibiting exactly the same behavior since around the same time.
