Cycling cadence sensor compatibility

Hi, I was also wondering if Cadence Sensor 2 is compatible with the original Instinct. In theory it should work as both sensor and watch support Ant+. But I;m not sure because the Garmin site lists the combined Speed 2 & Cadence 2 as an available accessory, along with the Speed 2 on its own, but doesn't list the cadence 2. Just wondered if you got the Cadence 2 and if it works with the Instinct?

Bumping this thread, I have a Magene S3+ cadence sensor that is ANT+ compatible. I'm able to pair it to my Instinct and it shows as connected, but upon tracking my rides no cadence is being picked up. 

Does anyone know the solution?

The magene s3+ is a sensor which can work as either cadence or speed sensor, so make sure it's connected as a cadence sensor, and not speed sensor.

Just to update this thread, I bought the Garmin Cadence 2, and it works fine with my Instinct (mark 1)!

Thanks, that was set up correctly. The issue was that I had the sensor disconnected and tried connecting it in the middle of tracking my ride. For the sensor to work, it has to be preconnected prior to tracking an activity.

When offline, the sensor is always at "connecting" so I assumed that the constant searching for the device would drain my battery so I had it off.

Hey, I am planning the same thing. Are you able to see the current cadence in your instinct watch?

Hey, yep, I used to have the instinct mounted to the handlebars (paired to a heart rate strap) and configured a field to display current cadence. Worked fine!
